How exactly do birth control pills destroy the gut? What does it mean when someone says that? I went on b/c years ago to clear up my skin. Totally worked, but not completely. Then I discovered Paleo in hopes that would clear up what I had... (more)

Hi Everyone,  Up until 2 months ago I was mostly primal, 3 eggs each morning, dairy daily, very little grain but I would eat some wheat when travelling without a problem. And had a couple of drinks every weekend. Then I started on Wahls... (more)

The first few months I started Paleo/Primal, I had these very itchy patches over my body: nipples, chest & upper legs. I've tried cutting on dairy, cheese and nightshades, nothing really worked. Then I just started follwoing the normal Paleo... (more)

Hello!I've been on paleo since August and I haven't had my period since. I've been pretty low on carbs (some days below 30 g, but lately i think more - I eat a lot of vegetables but not the starchy ones. And 2 or 3 fruits a week.) I think that I... (more)

I have a dog allergy I'd like to cure (my boyfriend has a dog, I know, it sucks), which mostly makes my skin react causing an itchy rash. I've seen some improvement already, but has anyone completely/mostly cured their allergies by eating a paleo... (more)

80% improvement. I'd be highly suspicious of anyone who claims 100% success when it comes to (non-food) allergies. (Not just as a result of Paleo -- but anything, including medication.)

Yeah eating out is definitely out of the question if you are going for a Paleo diet as a student. I started Paleo after I graduated and I honestly cannot imagine how I would cope sticking with the Paleo diet during my student career. I... (more)

I am fully Paleo and I avoid processed and junk food as much as I can. I don't particularly miss any junk/processed food... except Tang that is. I feel nostalgic about it. Don't you think the rare Tang (say, once or twice a year) treat is that bad... (more)

Stressing out about drinking Tang a few time a year is likely worse for you then just enjoying it a few time a year. Just my two cents.

It occurred to me tonight that the reason high carb diets tend work may be because it allows the body to synthesize the right fats. Pure and simple... If you have good gut flora and a healthy metabolism and good insulin response, your body/flora... (more)

Our bodies only synthesize things they *need*, otherwise it's a waste of energy. There are things we need but cannot synthesize.  So in terms of fats… we need omega-3 and omega-6 long chain fats, we cannot synthesize these,... (more)

generally, I don't think barefoot running is as good as it's made out to be.  Our bodies evolved to walk.  It was not until we started to develop footware did we become runners.  Yes, there are a few tribes, like the Tarahumara... (more)

There is a difference between fueling our bodies with foods that our bodies are evolved to process, and I don't know - using a phone or computers to communicate. The latter has no direct impact on our physiology.

How much carbs are you currently eating? Are you sure the lack of carbs is the issue? Maybe it has to with exercise like the first commenter said.

Hi @sunnyla1978! The corn in them makes them a non-paleo treat.  But you could use it as a cheat meal if you need a cheat meal and are paleo and go by the 80/20 rule. Personally I use the 95/5 rule, meaning I try to eat paleo 100 percent of... (more)

When it comes to IGF-1 the lower the better, if you are mainly focused on health. Low IGF-1 levels promote longevity by inhibiting ageing and inhibiting cancer growth.
