Only thing I would add to the good advice you've already had here is to apply diluted kefir (a kind of yogurt available in most grocery stores) directly to skin. It might make it worse before better, but it will definitely challenge the germs and... (more)

If anything Accutane appears to ramp up active vitamin D (1,25-dihydroxy) production. I don't think you can draw any conclusions about whether vitamin D treatment will clear Accutane faster than normal.

Conventional medical advice is being given by your doctor. As Paleo followers we generally don't believe 99% of what they say. I'd stick with Paleo if it was me. I do find a lot of contradictions in your post but since you don't want to hear... (more)

Hi PH'ers, I haven't been on Isotretinoin/Accutane for a few years, but the side effects haven't left. Accidental O.D. (still have that classic thinned out eyebrow) on it during my second course (which was already high dose to begin with).... (more)

Koanic Soul has suffered accutane side effects, so if you can stand the strangeness and dig through his site, you may find stuff that helps. I think for a long time he was eating rice and scallops or shrimp. Food quality seems to be reality... (more)

After 6ish years of trying everything and anything to stop my cystic acne, I decided to resort to a very low dose accutane treatment in an attempt to keep my acne at bay while minimizing the common side effects of accutane. I am going to start... (more)

Hi Shawn, I come from a family where horrifying cystic acne is the norm for females on my mother's side. She struggled with it all her life and still does at 55, so when my sister and I developed it as teens she took us straight to a... (more)

I have a couple of cysts on my face that won't go away. I think they came after I have too much fruit for about a week. I'm 14 years old, so acne is pretty hard to hide from, but if I don't get rid of these cysts my parents are going to force me... (more)

I used to have problems with cystic acne too. Here are a few things I've found that have worked for me, but you just need to tinker and see what works for you. Lindsey might be right--Accutane might actually be a good solution for you if your... (more)

Yep. I know, I never thought I would give in. But i'm seriously considering accutane. I've been on the paleo diet for 3 months, and while my face cleared up significantly, my arms/back/chest still harbor cystic acne. I'm absolutely tired of it. I... (more)

Don't! I was on Accutane when I was 20 (15 years ago). My skin got so dry that when I pulled down my pants dry white skin flakes would flurry. It did really reduce the number of cysts I got on my face, but to this day I still have acne on my face... (more)

Eat normally and allow for time to recover/detox/heal. No need to come up with some wacky supplementation scheme and diet to fix your problems. Real food is sufficient and time helps. Your supplementation scheme is most effective on your... (more)

I've been struggling with dry skin on my face for years now. I was given accutane as a teen (a decade ago) and I believe that has permanently affected my skin. I am not sure if this is true but it is my only guess. The issue does not run in my... (more)

Maybe it's the fluoride and chlorine in your water supply. I personally don't think it's due to dehydration, it's most likely due to some vitamin and/or mineral defiencies. Eat bone broths, wild caught fish, green leafy veggies, eggs and drink... (more)
