Should I be worried about this?

So i have picked up Paleo to see if a grain/soy/milk free diet will help me kick allergies and breakout problems I have suddenly developed at 23 years of age (apparently I am the only one in my direct circle who thinks...'oh that just happens, you can develop allergies at some point in your life for no reason at all' is not a valid explanation from my gp.)

I am 1 week and 3 days in and mostly I fell good, the eczema and puffiness around my eyes seems to be placated and the breakouts I was experiencing are starting to clear. I am also finding that what I thought was immovable weight around my middle was just bloat.

I had a mild headache on the third day and a bit of tiredness but other then that no 'carb-flu' I hear about, no cravings of any kind. In fact if I am being honest I don't feel like eating at all a lot of the time, I'm not even sure that's normal, today I had a smoothie for breakfast (7:30am)(coconut milk to add calories) and then nothing until 1:30 when I ate some chicken and broccoli even though I was not that hungry, its now 4:30 and again I am not hungry and probably wont be until 7pm. So that's the first thing I am worried about, I am worried I am not eating enough or that I'm killing my metabolism or something.

The second thing is I am constipated, its always been something I have a problem with but since starting Paleo it has gotten so.much.worse. I'm not in pain, I don't even get the heavy feeling in the bottom of my stomach that I would normally in this kind of situation, but I am only going every three days and its never easy and even when its a proper movement its quite small (tmi?). I'm not eating much fruit or even sweet potato because I just don't feel like it and I figure if I don't feel like it, don't eat it but I'm paranoid about being so plugged up.

For those things, kiwifruit is one of the best remedies. Other like potatoes constipate. Then you could experiment with things that will improve your int. mucus, such as okra.

You didn't mention your exercise regimen but lifting and cardio will help both metabolism and constipation.

Thanks everyone, I'll give all these things a go and see what happens. I already drink a lot of water but I will try increasing that some more.

Hey @Gemstone29 .Constipation is often a sign of dehydration. The body seeks to draw the water it is not getting from other places, such as the stool, making it harder to pass. Typically on a diet without grains like Paleo, the body will retain less water too, which is why many people post a large weight loss in their first week or two as much of it is water leaving the body. This will exacerbate any dehydration obviously. Try to ramp up your water consumption. I'm at about 3 litres on a workout day, at least 2 on a rest day but see how much works for you :)

Welcome! If you're not overly overweight, you're going to want to up your calories sooner than later if you're operating at a deficit. From an abrupt change in your diet, it can take a while to fully get the swing of things (months.) Adding some magnesium citrate to your diet (maybe try 500mg) will loosen things up while getting into the paleo groove.
