A quick tip on how to check the quality of your asparagus. Asparagus when fresh have a waxy coating on it. Sometimes when you buy store bought or on the farmers market they can be weeks and weeks old and the sugars break down the waxy skin... (more)

Another one is - if it is REALLY fresh, there will be sap exuding from the bottom of the stalk. If the bottom of the stalk is dry and woody - it is getting on in age!

Hello! Spring time is asparagus time. Do you consider asparagus paleo and do you like/eat it? How much carbs does it have and is there a carb difference between green and white asparagus? cheers Marc

It's friggen delicious on the grill with some oil and spices -- eat as much as you want it's definitely paleo just like pretty much all vegetables. Just make sure you pee in a well ventilated bathroom -- asparagus pee FTW.

I prefer all vegetables frozen as opposed to canned. Canned is just too 'baby food mushy' to me, whereas the colour and flavour is retained better in fresh frozen veggies. Sure, they aren't as awesome as fresh would be, but it is nice to have... (more)
