Hello, everyday I have a banana smoothie, made up of yogurt, one small banana and a bit of milk, with half an avocado. I have been on the diet for a week and haven't lost any weight though. I'm wondering if this is the reason? Every other meal I... (more)
Bananas are one of the highest in sugar fruits out there! If you want a fruit smoothie in the AM, you should try using berries... And I would use EITHER milk OR yogurt, not both. The avocado is a great addition though!
This is a sad day for me as I've learned that avocados give me gas (well, at least the 2 per day I have been eating recently). I love them not only because they taste amazing but they are so easy to bring to work and keep around for a snack.Any... (more)
I've been avid, consistent avocado buyer for about 2 years now. They have been ripe, underripe, and occasionally just bad. Starting earlier this Summer, they have ALL been bad, organic and conventional, in all markets. It seems that they are... (more)
What's the basis for using avocados in a paleo diet? According to what I can Google up, first mention of eating avocados date to only about 10 to 20 000 years BC. While the plant itself is assumed to be 350 million years old, I can't find any... (more)
Hello! I absolutely love eating avocados plain with a spoon for snacks or as part of a lunch/dinner. They are delicious by themselves, but sometimes I find myself wanting some other flavors in there. Does anyone have any suggestions about how... (more)
B: coffee with heavy cream / grass-fed butter + MCT L: 1 avocado D: a LOT of quality protein & green leafy veggies (but within reason) So my question is, is there anything wrong with having that avocado at noon? I figured since it was mostly... (more)
Aside from the fact that our ancestors did not eat dairy, is there any scientific study as to why some paleo folks don't eat it? I figured weight would be falling off after almost 2 weeks and the scale has barely moved. I have been having 1/2 an... (more)
If this has already been asked, sorry! I couldn't find it anywhere. Anyway.. I have been wondering for some time now why vegetable oil seems to be shunned in this community, along with canola oil. I have often seen them referred to as... (more)

Whole food PUFAs (i.e. avocados) are fine. There's more problems with refined and processed PUFAs (e.g. vegetable oil).
I've been going steady paleo for about 3 weeks now. Staples of my diet are fish (both fresh and canned), avocados, and green vegetables like kale, spinach and broccoli. I've been VLC and I feel fantastic. For the first 2 weeks I had barely any... (more)
I've read other thread regarding avocado consumption but seems like there's no clear answer so I'm gonna ask again: Is it ok to eat 2 avocados per day 5 times a week? I eat pretty clean paleo (almost none industrial seed oils, eat healthy... (more)
I'd say it's pretty hard to overdose on avocados. But what about the PUFAS?!?!?, you say? This ain't refined oxidized corn oil, folks. It's a raw, unprocessed, whole food.
I know that avocados contain polyols which are the P in FODMAPs. But I can't figure out if they are bothering me or not (I have digestive distress every day, but notice it more if I eat brassicas. Onions and garlic are totally out.) Do others... (more)

What kind of fat do you use to cook your meats and to increase the fat intake in your diet. Personally, I have tried coconut oil and can not stand the taste of it (it is wonderful on the skin though). I have started to using Ghee and the label... (more)

What are the benefits of avocado that outshine their high Omega 6 (1689mg per 100 grams) to Omega 3 (110 mg per 100 grams)? Thats a ratio of 15:1. I don't want to be taking fish oil to accommodate the imbalance. How often do you eat avocado? I... (more)
