A couple of days ago, I took 650 mg of Betain HCl (+150 mg of pepsin) as a test to 'diagnose' (or at least get a clue about) low stomach acid. I suspect (breath test coming up soon) SIBO (+ histamine intolerance), so I wanted to rule out low... (more)

Actually, I don't think the common theory of "too much acid = GERD" makes much such to begin with. I mean think about the reasoning when it comes to heartburn: The cause of the heartburn is that stomach acid gets in contact with the esophagus.... (more)

I've taken betaine HCL for 4 days now and after every time I take it I get tired, lots of bloating, and really dry lips. Anyone else have any of the same symptoms and feel better?

What makes you think you have an ulcer? An ulcer can simply feel like a small knot that is uncomfortable but not painful. Little/no blood. HCL supplementation can prevent ulcers from healing since acid irritates the ulcer. I suggest you see a GI... (more)

Burping is a result of GAS, not acid. The gas is from aerobic respiration from aerobic bacteria in your gut.

Take liquorice root powder with a little water a few times a day. About half a teaspoon. If you do have h. pylori, it will help kill it off and keep it from getting worse. But definitely get tested for it!
