My Vitamin D levels are 40 ng/mL, and I'm trying to bring them to 50 because my grandmother and mother have osteoporosis. My mother has Vitamin D levels similarly and had to supplement with 1500-2500 IU/day to bring them to 50-60. Below 50 ng/ML... (more)

Lizzy, Can you tell us what your diet is like? My dental health has improved since going on a paleo diet. I have not healed any visible cavities but some teeth sensitivity I used to have has gone away and my teeth are more opaque. I also... (more)

There have been several threads on supplements, but not much evidence indicating how useful they really are. Chris Kresser just wrote a piece about how he doesn't recommend supplements for most people, but at the end, notes a couple things people... (more)

A number of sources spoke highly of Green Pasture fermented cod liver oil (FCLO), so a short while back, I picked up a bottle of their FCLO/butter oil blend capsules. Problem is, the dosage is unclear, as I believe Green Pasture claims that the... (more)

No doubt, the recommended dosages are confusing, and probably always will be. That's because we are talking about vitamin dosages contained within a whole food. By nature, fermented cod liver oil vitamin content will always change with each batch,... (more)

I have read several of the threads on CLO and HVBO, but mostly they were just facts and opinions of whether or not it's good to take or not. I'm looking for real testimonies of people who take one of them or both of them, or people who have ever... (more)

I started taking it in December hoping to become pregnant (not from the CLO/HVBO obviously), then took a last-minute job in Kyrgyzstan. Took my Green Pastures Blue Ice Royal (Cinnamon Tingle as pictured) with me. I spent three weeks in transit... (more)

Weston Price used butter oil as part of his diet recommendations, and I've seen a lot of people in the paleo community recommend it as well, so I recently bought a bottle from Green Pastures. The problem is that it's really expensive for the... (more)

Summarizing most of what's already been written into a single post: 1) There is conventional butter and pasture butter. For the highest vitamin K2 content, the butter must be from cows fed grass in pasture. Silage and cut hay does not have the... (more)

Just wondering how you make your clarified butter and whether low temps or high are better? I start with raw unpasteurised cultured butter, presumably to keep all the goodness intact i want to heat it as little as possible when clarifying it... (more)

So I read that these two are synergistic and you should take both, that's why Green Pasture even makes a butter/cod oil blend which I've been getting. I'm wondering if I need to eat both at the same time, do they need each other for absorption... (more)

If you are looking for the additional value of vitamin K2, then the butter oil blend is likely your best choice. Fermented cod liver oil on its own may have some K2 value, but with the butter oil added, the K2 value is higher. Butter oil is not... (more)

Lately when I cook steaks, I've been doing a mix of organic olive oil + grass-fed butter ghee + a little bit of water. I find this allows me to cook at a semi-higher temp without burning the meat or the olive oil. The thicker the steak or... (more)

Pre season the meat a few hours ahead with salt, put it closely under a very hot broiler and cook about a total of 7 minutes. I don't add any oils or butter. Hamburgers usually in a pan with some coconut oil to prevent sticking to pan.
