I'm a lean & healthy 27-year-old guy who's been eating paleo for two years. Typical day I eat 1/3 lb of meat, 6 cups veggies, 2 cups fruit, 2 tbsp oil, 1/4 cup nuts. That's roughly 1.2Kcals, 43g protein and 20g fiber. I haven't eaten any junk food... (more)

Was there soy lecithin in it? I have weird reactions to that ingredient, also toe curling foot cramps. Chocolate without it, I don't have the reaction.

Get more physical activity rather than cutting more calories. I don't see any reason (save medical emergencies) that an adult should go below 1,200 calories per day.

I've been told by multiple online calorie calculators that I must consume under 1300 to maintain. I'm currently eating around 1500 AT LEAST, most of the time probably around 1700. I wonder what the discrepancy is? 1300 seems like such little... (more)

I am a female 5'8, 125-130lbs and maintain at around 2000kCal/day. I run a few miles every other day and have to walk a bit at work. I agree with the others that you probably need at least over 1500kCal a day to maintain.

I just put my eating data on cronometer.com and saw that I was 45% fat, 30% protein, 25% carb. I was fine with that and everything but then saw that I was eating only 1700 calories a day. That is like 900 cals under what is recommended for me... (more)

People are not the same. The BMR needs of everyone who is 5'9" an 175 lbs will be wildly different. The BMR that they present is an average. Best way to identify your caloric load is to eat when hungry and see whether you gain/loose weight. (more)

I suspect you aren't eating enough. 85g of fat contains only 765 calories. If you're eating 50g of protein (1g/kg), that's only 965 calories. Given your apparently active lifestyle, you are either eating a lot of carbs or you're not eating... (more)
