The ketones are acid forming. A low pH I think facilitates infections. Maybe the acid load from having producting too many ketones overwhelm the kidney's ability to keep pH in a good range.

Apart from breathing, drinking water, and a stroll in nature, daily anything is a bad idea, in my opinion.

There are a lot of things that can cause candida to overgrow, even the fluoride in tap water and all the canned foods/prepared drinks one might consume. Also, carbs feed candida as does stress.

Though low carb diets are not for everyone, many of the benefits outweigh the risks and many of the so-called dangers of low carb diets are actually just myths (ie. you'll ruin your kidneys, excrete calcium, up your risk for heart disease)
