How about green plantains. If you fry them they have a GI of around 40 and they almost taste like bread. When I am "carbing" they are my go to source. Mix 2 eggs, 1 plantain, 1 tbsp coconut oil, and lemon/lime juice in a blender then fry them... (more)

I'm curious. ^^ Of course potatoes are nightshades, and do produce toxins. Normal potatoes will produce toxins when they go bad as well - solanine - which concentrates mostly at the skin level of the potato.

Even in my vegetarian days I would sometime breakfast with lentil soup. Now I am fully on the salty/savory side, and rice, natto, eggs or sardines, sprouts and olives can not be beat. So nutritious. I will add a fruit at the end, but that's it. (more)

What happens when you become fat adapted and you happen to eat to many carbs one day and it knocks you out of ketosis but you still remain in a calorie deficit?

I've found that I'm making 3 or 4 trips to the toilet at night, despite not or barely topping up on water at night. I know water loss is common on any low carb diet, but how long does it go on for? Any other related factors I could consider? (more)

@Asclepius by low carb I meant low in grains and sugar...I'll have to watch my terms on here as I tend to throw the word carb around as a catch all term! Blood pressure wise, mine has always been low. (more)
