I recently started eating Paleo 2 days ago and am continually reading more up on it to help my transition. The past two days, I haven't had enough food to eat because I've cut out all grains (Asian here, and that's a lot of rice to cut out lol)... (more)
Aside from discussions on why you would want to do it.Obviously, you will need to tap into "gray area", but the question is what gray area foods.I am currently thinking oats (real ones) and red lentils. Both are convenient (quick to cook), low GI... (more)
I bought a new protein powder at Whole Foods - Organic Food Bar Vanilla Whey. It lists only 1.6 grams of carbs and 25g or protein per scoop. Since using it, I could tell that it didn't satiate me well and was causing blood sugar issues because... (more)
I've been eating paleo for over a year. I lost a couple of kilos and seem to have plateaued at 59kgs even though I could visibly do with losing a few more. I would never go back to eating a SAD diet because my psoriasis and also some visible... (more)
I've always eaten a high carb diet for athletic performance but there's so much controversy on the topic that I wanted to ask for some clarity on the subject. First, you have the people like Anthony Colpo, who is a high carb advocator(... (more)
You know it has taken me just under two years to finally drop that niggling "carbs make you fat" thought in the back of my head. This is understandable if the first book around the subject of nutrition I read was Taubes' GCBC. These papers... (more)

It's hard to say whether you are in ketosis. The best way to find out is a blood ketone meter. Bad breath can be a sign of getting into ketosis, but it certainly is not a reliable indicator. Some people do tolerate more carbohydrates than others,... (more)
So I was with a friend over the weekend who is interested in trying a whole-food cyclic low-carbohydrate diet (< 50g of carbohydrate a day) in effort to move some stubborn body-fat. I asked her what she was eating before and she was in total... (more)
A very close friend eats grains/carbs at the moment and is on a very tight budget (~$85-110 a month for food), sometimes with limited access to cooking. While they've expressed wishes to transition to Paleo/primal/ancient-type diet, right now,... (more)
In regards to post workout carbohydrate intake, I have some questions about the timing and also the amounts I am currently carb-cycling, doing 2 high carb days a week, the rest I keep carbs under 100 grams, even on days I workout. I workout... (more)
I suppose the title isn't that clear, so I'll try to word the question a bit better: I take a 2 hour walk every day, at a reasonable pace (around 3 mph) and in the middle, I tend to get something fructose-y, around 30 grams carbs. My question... (more)
Is there such a thing as the opposite of 'low carb flu'? I did a Whole30 in January where I averaged about 50g of carbs per day. In the months after that, I went back to my usual 100g carbs per day, with a macronutrient ratio of about 60% fat,... (more)
Please can some expert paleos help me? I have posted twice before about carbohydrates, as reduction in carbs seems to be the only way I can lose weight. I lost 10lbs by doing low carb paleo but I felt constantly ill and horribly anxious,... (more)
I am hoping for some clarification about carbohydrates. On the advice of paleohacks, I recently started eating more carbohydrates as I was eating next-to-none and it was making me feel ill. I am now feeling much better, having added bananas and... (more)
I am going to experiment with ketosis and would like to know which are the most nutrient dense vegetables that are low carb and good for staying in ketosis.
Hey, i have been somewhat confused by the role of carbohydrate and SFAs in heart disease. Initially, i thought that saturated fat was 'safe' to consume due to a low carbohydrate consumption. That'd mean that increasing carb intake would result in... (more)
I think the proper formula is inflammation + saturated fat = heart disease. And inflammation is a result of some modern foods such as some grains and milled flour, as well as soybean oil, trans fats and other foods.
How do you count carb grams? What do you use? I would love to have a list of carb grams count in foods, especially vegetables, berries and fruit. I am looking for something simplified like this: 5 carb grams equals.... 1/2 cup of strawberries,... (more)
