A while back it seems a cute little diet ran into a hunky exercise regime while shopping at the farmer???s market. The two clicked instantly, and have been in bed together ever since. Why is crossfit so popular among the paleo crowd, and vice... (more)
I know Chronic Cardio and Drinking both are not Paleo, but sometimes I like to have a little (or a lot) of fun, I usually lift heavy 3-4x/week, lots of walking, some sprinting. This Saturday I will be going out on a boat and will probably be... (more)
Quick background, I am 5'11 165 lb 27 yr old white male. Very active all my life and have never had any health issues. I eat extremely healthy and currently train Jiu Jitsu five times a week (very cardio intense). Moderate alcohol and caffeine... (more)
A lot of your symptoms are probably being caused by electrolyte depletion / imbalance. If you're low carb, you need to be consuming about 5 grams of sodium a day. 5 days / week of intense cardio is not healthy either.
So a little background...I'm a 31 year old male, right now I'm weighing in at 200 even. Last year I got into running ultras and dropped down to a low weight of 168, but injured myself and ended up putting the weight back on bringing me to my... (more)
Based on the diet in your comment "My diet and schedule...", I offer the following: Too much snacking. Don't snack. Move the snack calories to mealtimes. Do your morning workout fasted, and move the pre-workout protein to post-workout. Eat your... (more)
I hear a lot of people exercise because of weight, and while that has in past been a challenge for me, I legitimately love endurance racing--running, biking, swimming--and competing in events. I love cardio because I love the way it makes me feel.... (more)
I really hate cardio -- is it necessary for fat loss? How often do you guys do cardio? I do lift heavy full body (heavy for me that is) at least 3x week (sun tues thurs) THen I do a semi HIIT treadmill thingy 2x week (mon and fri) --1 hr long ... (more)
Cardio is not necessary for fat loss, but it will accelerate your results, and make you a healthier person. You can either go the HIIT (high intensity interval training) route or the LISS (low intensity steady state) route....or both. Here is a... (more)
Okay, so I know that it is ideal to mix both cardio and strenghth together, but I am kind of not sure how to make it worth iwth little free time? I feel like I am bulking up underneath fat rather than any fat loss...Any fitness expert willing to... (more)
For fat loss, I would do 100% strength and low-intensity exercise like walking, and 0% cardio. My primary form of exercise used to be running (csrdio) about 12-14 miles per week. I got ok at it but never felt great and never lost weight. One day... (more)
Hello everyone, I've been doing paleo for about 5 weeks now, and while I don't do much cardio, I'd like to be able to at least run a mile at a good speed. I used to run 2-3 miles 7:00-7:30 pace no prob before paleo, now I can't come close to... (more)
"I'm trying to lose the last bit of fat and havent been eating many carbs." That's your problem. Ever notice that when you eat low carb, your arms and legs begin to feel weak and tingly? It's because they are.
My brother is a huge fan of the Joe Rogan podcast, even before Robb Wolf was a guest a while back (if you haven't checked that episode I recommend it especially to introduce others). My brother mentioned how Joe Rogan had surgery to "fix" his... (more)
one of my closest friends is really into getting spay tans, putting on a bikini, and prancing around in clear stripper heels. :) she asked me to be her cardio buddy. i lawled... she's doing AM and PM cardio, that's two hours total a day. she... (more)
I understand that cardio is largely looked down upon in the PH community but I'm interested to hear from folks who have found that adding some regular cardio to your life has helped you to lean out when just eating a clean diet didn't. I'm a big... (more)
I used to go out dancing three times per week, for at least three hours. I drank copious beers and ate copious pizzas. since beginning primal three years ago, I have swapped dancing for walking and light weights. I have been moderating beer. I've... (more)
Three hours of hard dancing is fantastic exercise. I had heaps of mates who used to stay thin when we were young, I'm sure it was partly because of this. Oh.. and the drugs. Actually, probably the drugs.
I've seen the reports that extreme cardio, especially performed over long periods of time, can be bad for your heart and cortisol levels but I'd like to know where I should draw the line? For example, if I work out for an hour on my rowing... (more)
So, I've never liked to run. I've never liked to exercise. I was the clumsy teen who signed up for "racewalking" as her sport of choice in gym. Yoga is right up my alley but I don't even get off my butt to do that. But, I'm 25 lbs lighter than I... (more)
As in running 20-30 miles a week? I take at least one rest day, one sprint day, and do strength exercises (not "lifting heavy" by any means, though) two or three times a week. Whenever I read about paleo for runners, its for people that are... (more)
maybe it's a macho man thing... but I feel like I should buy some dumbells and just do normal workout routines from when I was in high school. A friend loaned us his P90X dvd's and we've been doing them for a short time. I know results can be... (more)
I did P90X with Paleo and LeanGains and saw great results. In the beginning I just used resistance bands because I was traveling alot for work. But then I was able to switch to using adjustable dumbbells and thats when I saw even better results.... (more)
We dislike chronic cardio, ie long distance running, and it makes sense when we look at a sprinter's body vs. a marathon runner's body. My question is, does this also hold for swimmers? Michael Phelps swims 6 hrs a day 6 days a week and trains for... (more)
Has anyone on the paleo diet incorporated rollerblading along with their paleo lifestyle? I have been told that rollerblading is much more effective than running. I appreciate any feed-back :-)
I found the Heart Scan Blog recently, and I must confess that it interests me. However, I am unable to find out very much about the accompanying program without shelling out $80 or more. Now I'm not opposed to spending that money and indeed it... (more)
I'm looking to get into my cardio status in a way that gets past the usual numbers and find out more. I have seen mention made to this calcium scoring thing and that it's not expensive, but I wouldn't know how to go about getting it done. Thanks... (more)
Here's the abstract: It is widely held among the general population and even among health professionals that moderate exercise is a healthy practice but long term high intensity exercise is not. The specific amount of physical activity necessary... (more)
Now that I get my exercise from resistance training and full body movement/complex exercises, is there anything that is not chronic cardio that I can use this treadmill for? I definitely have some body fat to lose, but from what this site says... (more)
If you enjoy watching television, I think the argument could be made that watching television while walking on the treadmill would be better than watching it while sitting on the couch. Walking is always good.
Cardio isn't strictly paleo, but I've got to get to work somehow. I cycle a bit, commuting (at speed) around 20 miles a day. I try to limit my carb intake, generally it's less than 30g (about 6-10% of my daily intake). The rest is split between... (more)
