How long did it take before you felt that you were fully into this new lifestyle 1.When you no longer felt you had to eat more than 2 meals a day? 2. When did you start to feel that the body regulates food intake so that you no longer... (more)
So obviously many people have small cheats here and there or do whole cheat days weekly. Every other day or so I tend to incorporate something small that i shouldn't have - green beans with dinner, white rice as a side, goat cheese on my burger... (more)
It also depends entirely on your own personal paleo prescription. For instance I don't count cheese in moderation to be a "cheat" - I also don't consider white rice to be a "cheat" though I try not to have it every day. However, pinto beans are... (more)
Came across "Paleo Wraps" today. Just wanting to know everyone's thoughts on these. Yes they're paleo, but do they fall into the realm of foods that are technically paleo but resemble traditional comfort foods and should therefore be eaten in... (more)
There are a whole bunch of foods I can't imagine ever taking another bite of - things I used to enjoy, like doritos or a chocolate bar. I'll eat good quality chocolate, but the cheap stuff just tastes nasty. What about you? Still pining over old... (more)
Agree. All those fake foods just taste gross to me, not tempting at all. Used to love Reese's peanut butter cups, now they just taste like sugar and chemicals. Almond butter smeared on dark chocolate works much better.
I've been on the Paleo diet for a few months... I have always had a sweet tooth though, and I am able to satisfy it without going that far off the paleo template. I would say i'm 90/10. The 10% cheat being Organic 85% or greater Dark Chocolate... (more)
I spent 4 straight weeks only Paleo - doing amazing! Then, started traveling for work again. What is the best way to get back to the results I was seeing in the shortest timeframe?
I eat a low-carb Paleo diet through the week but I eat sugary cheat meals during the weekend. This is a conscious decision, my life would be dull without indulging in bad non-Paleo foods. I feel lean and 'clean' a few days after returning to my... (more)
I took up a strict Paleo diet about four weeks ago. Experienced the expected- flu like symptoms, weakness, lack of stamina in training. And suddenly that all went away and I started feeling great. Yesterday, a chef friend of ours invited us to his... (more)
Lately I just can't seem to stop cheating. a "yolo" food now and then is one thing, but I seriously can't stay on the wagon longer than five seconds lately. None of my usual tricks for not cheating have been working lately. Do any of you have any... (more)
Am I the only one to find that when I crave something completely non-paleo in a bad way and then cave in and it isn't as good as I thought it should be or remembered it as being? For example last night I had a glass of my favorite red wine,... (more)
I craved in for a craving of a club sandwich. At first I thought I just had a crappy club sandwich but after trying one at another place I've had before and loved it I realized that something had changed.
So I just started paleo, and I am 15 years old.. And well alot of people suggested that I don't lose my teenagehood because of paleo. So I thought of allowing one cheat meal a week. How will that affect my body after switching paleo? And should I... (more)
Hey all, I am heading to NYC this weekend for a quick trip. I'm looking for suggestions for dinner on Saturday or lunch on Sunday- doesn't have to be strict paleo, but I want really good meat and veggies, preferably in a place that does some... (more)
This weekend? Is there any way to reschedule? Things are a MESS there, and it's super hard to get around anywhere, including just getting into the city is tough.
There have been a few threads about cheats and popcorn, but I am curious about the 'best' way to do it. Not so much about alternatives, or the psychology of cheat days. One of my pleasures when going to the movies is popcorn. I know it is bad for... (more)
Popcorn has been so hard to give up. I had some at a movie a while ago, and I did a calorie deficit and followed it with a long walk. Was it optimal? Probably not, but the point is to make overall beneficial changes, not torment ourselves.
80/20 Paleo for the last two months; last night, at a family gathering, I just HAD to break down for 2 rolls of lumpia (basically a fried egg roll) I was fine up until this AM, my body is incredibly nauseous - I'm downing water, had eggs and beef... (more)
I've been paleo for about 2 months now and I cheat almost once a week. It's usually if we go out to dinner. I'll keep paleo in mind when ordering, but not get too picky about my meal. It's always somewhat planned and it's always a give and take.... (more)
How often do you allow food "slip ups" and do you go all out? I have been allowing my self one day slip up. At first it was ANYTHING I want to eat--bread, pasta, candy etc. Lately it seems--to be more in the grey Paleo area foods. Like today I... (more)
If your appetite is gone, nothing. If you are hungry, drink some bone broth/gelatin.
When I first came across this site (a few times here and there a while back) the whole "paleo" label seemed to be equated with a pretty extreme adherence to the particular VLC variant of paleo. As I've been reading more here I've seen many... (more)
I have no idea what kind of paleo I am, you guys can decide by reading below :P The macronutrient ratio's for me are about 60/20/20 fats/protein/carbs at the moment., according to Fitday anyway. I used to be lower carb but I'm on the other end of... (more)
I have been thin all my life, and am currently trying to gain weight. So I eat a lot, and often, and I'm lucky to see a pound a month of weight gain, if that. But when I cheat (infrequently) and have a slice of bread, some pizza, or (last night)... (more)
How do you prepare for the holidays? Do you just treat them as any other day and don't indulge at all? Or will you allow yourself a total blitz cheat day with family and friends? Or do you allow yourself one or two small and very intentional... (more)
I can't even imagine taking a sip of coke. Or eating a chocolate bar (though I'm happy to eat good choocolate). Or borekas, which is common where I live (a white flour and margarine delight). Or all sorts of ready-made processed food from the... (more)
Doughnuts. This is more because of my egg intolerance than the wheat/sugar/hydrogenated oils, but I haven't eaten one in years, and I don't really intend to. Same with cake.
I've been following strict(ish) Paleo for a few weeks, and I feel fantastic. I'm satisfied, performing well, and have had no cravings for the usual carbs and sugar. I've had the occasional cheat, but even they tend to be home-cooked and... (more)
If you have been relatively strict Paleo (since the word "Paleo" really isn't very informative, I am assuming the standard wheat-free, legume free, dairy free routine with fruits and veg as the main source of carbs) eating an entire bowl of pasta... (more)
Also, for perspective, please include how long you've been paleo. I've been wondering if longevity has effects on the frequency or substance of cheating during obviously vulnerable periods.
I did a lot better over Christmas than I did at Thanksgiving, which is really good considering I had three days of Christmas feasting. My Christmas cheats were one piece of pumpkin role and some chocolates.
Hey everyone, I just wondered how you deal with the social pressure to eat crap in situations where offending people is not a good idea (i.e., work). Yesterday we celebrated "Bosses Day" with mandatory cake...tomorrow we continue the celebration... (more)
