I like hemp seeds a lot. I usually add a teaspoon or so to my salads and kefir/yogurt. Chances are, you're not eating enough of them to make a big difference either way, so if you like the taste and they make you happy, go for it. I love cacao... (more)

Loren Cordain, in The Paleo Answer, has reservations about chia seeds because of the phytate content and the gel surrounding the seed impairs digestion.

I eat sprouted chia seed, mainly for for omega 3's and that I have lots and lots leftover from my previous way of eating high carb (pasta, oats, beans etc). Won't buy anymore once it's gone.

Beans don't have much taste so it seems crazy to work so hard to make them digestable. Why not make cook a steak with cream spinach and save a day of bean soaking plus have more flavor.

The protein that chia seeds contain might be effective, but they contain comparatively little protein, like most seeds. Even if you ate only chia from dawn to dusk, you'd only get about 78g protein (on 2500 calories). They're also not an ideal... (more)
