How do you like my cheat meal?

It's been a couple of weeks since I've had a good cheat meal. Now when it's time to cheat, I don't mess around. I go for it. A few weeks ago somebody posted a picture of some H-G dude climbing a tall tree to get honey from a bee nest. Do you think that guy just dipped one finger in and said, "that's enough"? I don't I bet he gorged on it. So I would like to read about your cheat meals, especially if you gorge yourself. Here's what I did:

One pint of Haagen-Dagz vanilla ice cream (that's about 1000 calories. Here's the kicker. I bought one of those big cooking bars of Ghiradelli Bittersweet chocolate, broke off pieces to use as spoons to eat the ice-cream with. That totalled 800 calories, so it was about 1800 calories of fat and sugar all totaled.

The chocolate, ice-cream combo was like crack, but I feel good.

Dude, if I try to climb a tree to raid a hive, I won't even have to worry about bee stings. I'll fall and bust my a$$ before I make it that far.

Thomas, bonus points if for your next cheat, you find a bee hive, and raid it for honey.

Is that the meal or dessert to a meal? I think I could knock that down (lactos would kill me but probably worth it) on it's own but not after 14+ oz of beef.

Your choice of food is good, but the chosen mechanism for eating it quintessentially caveman enough to earn you points.

For me, the cheat's got to be something good. For example, I work at a private school and we celebrate all the students' birthdays so there are at least three leftovers cakes sitting in the office each week. Most of them are terrible - dry, one-note pretty things that taste like Crisco. Never mind the giant rice cakes or green tea cakes, or the ones with tomatoes on top of them. However, if we're lucky to get one from Costco, which actually tastes like a real homemade cake and has real frosting on it, we all dive in. I figure if I gorge once in a while and get it out of my system, I'm not enticed to pick at the crap cakes from the boutique bakeries that sit in the kitchen until closing. In nine months, we've had two Costco cakes. One of them was chocolate.

The last cheat though was at an Easter potluck dinner in my apartment building. I can't demand that the other English teachers I work with accommodate me, so I made some paleo-friendly foods to add to the table, along with the desserts. I was at one time quite adept at making sweets, and since none of us have ovens, I took on the task of figuring out what the hell to make. At this meal, I had pork loin, apple sauce, deviled eggs, mashed potatoes, bean salad, broccoli salad with some cream sauce and raisins, ginger ale, steamed banana chocolate chip cake, garlic bread, grape juice, shrimp/melon/cucumber salad, broccoli with cheese sauce, nachos and salsa, chicken and mushroom stir fry, pepper salad with some sort of yogurt dressing, and a slice of peanut butter and jelly pie and chocolate peanut butter pie.

Then I woke up the next day with three big pimples on my face.

I just did my own mini triathlon this morning/afternoon, which according to my sources burned about 2155 calories. So to celebrate my 7th anniversary, I ate the following:

  • Proscuitto wrapped mozzerella
  • 'Wedge' salad: iceberg with applewood smoked bacon and balsamic vinaigrette
  • 22oz bone-in ribeye with porcini mushrooms and aged balsamic glaze
  • a cup of sauteed (in butter, by request, with a couple cloves of garlic) spinach
  • Flourless chocolate cake with raspberries and a dollop of whipped cream.
  • 2 cups of decaf coffee with 1/2 & 1/2 (they didn't have heavy cream)
  • 3 4oz glasses of malbec (full bodied red wine) throughout
  • 1 2oz glass of port

According to my count, about 2460 calories.

TOP THAT.

(BTW, other than some sugar in the cake, whipped cream, and raspberry jam, and the port, totally not cheating)

Is it wrong that I would barely consider that a cheat meal? Ice cream is dairy, LOL. I know it has too much sugar, though. The calories scare the crap out of me, but the items you ate are just awesome.

Usually when I "cheat", it's with a ton of conventional poultry, usually chicken. I used to buy 2 pounds of chicken legs, bake them up, and eat them all. I've also done this with an entire roasting chicken. I used to go to wing nights at Quaker Steak and Lube with one of my friends, but I stopped since the next day I would have the most cravings for more wings, and watermelon.

Last fall I used to buy three to four pounds of apples, and eat them all in the course of two days.

I guess my cheats are pretty tame...
