I'd like ideas for using cocoa butter besides for making chocolate. Is it good to use as just a cooking fat? Any particular foods it goes well with?

Rub it on pregnant women! Or just use it as lotion/body oil.

There are huge benefits to consuming cocoa, so I was wondering if it had been explored as a fat source?

I consider it a good fat but only mixed with chocolate (plain I use it to moisturize my skin). I buy super dark German chocolates because they have a regulation in place to only use real cocoa butter and no other vegetable fats. My fave is... (more)

white chocolate IS just cocoa butter, with some sweetener added. It isn't chocolate. your other commenters offering links to raw cocoa butter are on the money. You will have to do something to it, on its own it is not always pleasant tasting. (more)

It kind of taste like white chocolate -- I read somewhere that it is high in lauric acid? is that a good thing or bad?

Cocoa butter is the fat portion of the cocoa bean. When you eat chocolate you're eating cocoa butter. Much better to eat dark chcocolate 70% or above. Although saturated its not bad for your health.
