Just wondering if there is a "cap" on how much mct's one can/should consume per day. I've seen quite a few sources (will link if I re-find them) talking about using 3-3 1/2 tbsp of coconut oil per day. Then I've heard 3 servings of MCT's; would... (more)
So far as I know, nobody has done a study that would answer your question. Common sense tells us that there must be a maximal rate at which the liver can convert medium chain triglyceride (MCT) into ketone bodies, and presumably, if you... (more)
I just started my paleo experience 5 days ago! I went to the store, and couldn't find a coconut milk that didn't have preservatives. Mind you, I was getting a little testy and just wanted to get out of the store...I ended up buying Oh So Delicious... (more)
I find all of the refrigerated coconut milk will have preservatives and other stuff added. I go for the canned stuff, which usually shows up in the "ethnic" or "asian" sections of the grocery stores I shop at. You can also buy it online.

Honey can't be beat. Xylitol can be made of corn or birch, hard to know which. There is a little voice against xylitol lately. We have taken it off our shop shelves until we hear good news. If in doubt, throw if out! (ie don't do it)

Expeller-pressed coconut oil is healthier and, at least on the international commodities market, cheaper than canola oil. So why don't more restaurants use it as their cooking oil of choice, particularly as its reputation for being a healthy oil... (more)

Whats are the differences between the coconut milks? I've been using the canned coconut milk, but I have also seen coconut milk in cartons in the refrigerated section and also in the middle of the store on the shelf. So whats the difference?
Read the ingredients and the labels. The canned kind is more for cooking and has a higher percentage of fat. The carton kind is more for coffee or drinking.
Just wondering if someone knows the fatty acid breakdown of coconut fat? For instance, %stearic, MCT, palmitic, etc. Thanks!
