Cure low stomach acidity with lemon and coconut oil fast/detox.

I have recently been struggling with low stomach acidity (amongst other problems) and found the a one day and a half fast of coconut oil (12tbsps) and lemon juice reignited my appetite.

I would be interested in knowing what caused this and would recommend this as a possible solution to anyone else experiencing these problems. I now get acid reflux if I take betaine hcl, no burning however.

Michael: unfortunately, there's no much about it. Michel Montaud wrote a beautiful book but it seems it was written in French and translated only in Italian. The bite he uses was researched and by other professors: Renè Soluet, Andrè Besombes e Pedro Planas. You can try to research for them. Montaud gave a name to his approach. In English could sound something like "Dentosophy", like "the wisdom of the teeth". This is the only link I found in English: http://www.dentosophie.com/IMG/pdf/Paroles_0_en.pdf You can try to contact them and see if they can recommend a dentist in the US using the bite

Dear DS, yes I had exactly the same problem, pretty much for the entire fasting. But after finishing the fasting, it worked magic. Soon after the first meal everything was perfect. No more bloating gas and pain (which had x 20 years). I couldn't remember the pleasure to eat whatever I want and feel good afterwards. The fasting wasn't easy for me, cause I was quite fatigue since the beginning and couldn't sleep at night (which is something very needed always, but especially when you don't eat). Consider your (coated) tongue. That's the best indicator to check the progress of your detox process.

Interesting, I am currently doing a 3-week water fast (day 12) but am still getting bloating from drinking just the water. Did you have a similar experience?

Thanks for the knowledgeable answer Clara. Regular doc ran blood tests for celiacs and some others which came back negative. Took an iodine supplement for a few weeks a while back but it didn't seem to do anything. Don't think the bloating is gas related as I can eat something light in the morning, bloat out then pass little to no gas by tea time (8hrs later) and the bloating has gone down again. This makes me think the problem is with something getting irritated every time I eat (or even drink water) due to the damaged caused by nsaid's though I have no idea.

Dear Desperate S, what you're describing is borderline eating disorder. I'm really not going to discuss this matter any further.

Everyone's body/digestive system is not in the same state as yours is Rob. I could eat large amounts of all types of food perfectly fine until I got ill and took too many NSAIDS. Now if I try I quickly lose my appetite, bloat up massively and get so tired I have to sleep it off.

Hi Tony, I still have the ridiculous bloating after eating along with tiredness, general weakness, constipation and other things. Was thinking it could be gastritis from taking too many NSAIDS 8 month ago but that should have definitely healed by now. Was not taking HCL with the detox. Had been taking them before with slight improvements however I had to take stupid amounts (18,000mg) to get a noticable effect. Never really got reflux appart from when taking the hcl. Never noticed any burning either. Will keep you posted if I find anything!

Water with added sea salt it should say... don't want you drinking actual sea water.

Google "coconut oil detox". Its basically consuming lemon juice in sea salt water with 2 tbsps of coconut oil 6 or so times a day every 2 hours. I was eating the lemons. Did this for a day and a half and then again for a day and my appetite is much better. I originally tried this to see if I would get a die off reaction and to see if this would stop the horrendous bloating I get when eating/drinking.

Where did you get the idea to do this protocol? Did you just have no appetite and wanted to experiment. I am glad you're feeling better but would love to read more up on that since I have low stomach acid sometimes too.

Can you more specifically explain what you did? How you spread out taking the oil and juice, together or separate, etc?

NSAIDS can wreak havoc on anyone's digestive system. Some suggestions for you, as you still have trouble with bloating, etc. You could get a blood test done by a naturopathic doctor for food sensitivities (different than allergies), as food intolerance is a common cause of bloating, even if your stomach acid is up to par.

You could also try taking an Iodine supplement, like Iodoral (2 tablets, 2x day for 6 mos). This was most effective in repairing my digestion issues (acid reflux, nausea, bloating, fluid retention, mood swings, etc.) Iodine deficiency is a commonly overlooked cause of acid reflux/low stomach acid. However, I find it most effective if I'm not eating gluten. Most wheat products contain bromine, which blocks the absorption of iodine.

I can't believe someone would suggest this is an eating disorder. It's a VERY common issues, one which even the commenter is likely to encounter at some point in his life, especially with age, when the hydrochloric acid in our stomach depletes.

I had digestive issues for 20 years along with adrenal fatigue and many other things.

After trying literally everything what worked for me was:

• starting the Paleo diet

• doing a 3-week water fasting

• stopping the low-carb diet, reducing fibers (veggies) to the minimum and adding the safe starches (only yams) according to the PHD (Jaminet)

• using a bite for my teeth (by Michel Montaud) which helped me to breath better and changed my posture. This was a dramatic help. Bad breathing is one of the main reasons of digestive issues (although very few know it). When you diaphragm is not moving and working properly, your organs and stomach, pancreas, intestine don't move accordingly and function properly. I didn't know all this and thank God I found a great dentist who explained me this.

All issues of digestion disorders begin in the stomache. Proper ph in your stomach is the be all end all Start with apple cider viniger a teaspoon or two first thing in the morning. Lemon juice in water is also a good beginning. Eating fermented foods beginning with yogurt also helps to restore important bacterias that are super important for reestablishing proper stomache fona

Hi, I suffer with tremendous bloating after eating anything. Had an endoscopy that confirmed no gastritis or ulcers and the only thing I can think of is low stomach acid. When you were taking the hcl wrote this detox did you used to get acid reflux? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure starving yourself in general would re-ignite your appetite.

Give me a solid study that proves starving your body of its necessary nutrients is healthy. Why are people always trying to find a shortcut to things.

Eat like a normal person and do more exercise. Trust me that'll re-ignite your appetite more than anything.
