I have been following a paleo/primal for the last 6 months. I live in a cold environment and have always dealt with the cold well. This year I have been very cold feeling. Cold feet and hands and am wondering if limiting myself to no starched... (more)
Does everyone need starch in cold climates? I don't think so or the Inuit and Laplanders would have been in trouble a looong time ago. But do you need starch in a cold climate? Only you can answer that. I would try both upping the fat and if that... (more)
So right now, I'm battling a cold (rare sight, indeed, on Paleo foods...) and have an insatiable appetite. I'm listening to my body and eating Paleo foods until satisfaction (not totally jam-packed), but am eating ridiculous amounts...Is this... (more)
Some background: I'm coming up on almost 5 months of hardcore paleo. I follow paleo to the Robb Wolf letter, the only "cheats" I've done is eaten rice 3 times (in 5 months) and I probably eat more fruit than I should. My problem: I'm freezing... (more)

For some reason I have been really just wanting to eat everything in the house when it is cold. It could be that I am just stuck in my house and bored... I am curious though, does the weather have any effect on our appetite? Thanks, Holler... (more)
I find I eat more in the winter, but I've always felt like it was actually that I ate less in the summer because it is so hot and my appetite decreases. Once it cools down my appetite returns to normal.
Is it more natural to let your feet get cold in the winter-- e.g. "minimalist footwear"? Or is it better to really bundle up the feet and keep them warm-- e.g. fur-lined moccasins? What is your favorite winter footwear and why do they work for... (more)
With the arrival of cooler temperatures my cold hands and feet are back. They're way better than they used to be pre-paleo but still a problem-- any special foods, nutrients or techniques you've found to help?
hi everyone, My questions pretty much says it all. Since going paleo about a month ago I am hungry all the time, have a lot of saliver in my mouth which is not pleasant, everything tastes like metal. I find I cannot use metal sppons or forks or... (more)
So, I finally got a cold from my daughters and I was just thinking: Since linoleic acid upregulates an inflammatory response - maybe that's good for fighting off infections (bacterial or viral) and a little extra omega 6 might not be a bad thing... (more)
Would increasing calories (slightly) during a cold/flu/sinus scenario help with recovory. I think this would be along the lines of recovoring from a work out. I feel that most peaple seem to want to eat more when run down whether that be from... (more)
So it looks like I'm getting the second cold/flu/whatever since I started paleo in Jan 2010. Last summer's bout knocked me on my ass. What's weird is that even though I'm in the best health of most of my adult life now, I hardly ever got sick.... (more)
I did a strict whole30 that ended 2 weeks ago and transitioned directly into raw (past 2 weeks). I feel great. On Monday my boyfriend and I went to dinner and I needed something different so I ordered a taco salad (chicken, lettuce, salsa, cheese,... (more)
There are a few questions somewhat related to this, but none dead on. Cold therapy has been shown to be helpful for fatloss. I am wondering if you guys think this is a paleo thing or a weird hack. When I think paleo I think African planes. How... (more)
I'm sick at least 1-2 or more times a month (moderate-severe colds). When I'm not "sick" I'm coughing all the time. I take a probiotic every day, and even since eating strict whole30 I've been sick twice (in 3 weeks). This has been going on for... (more)
I am currently feeling a big cold coming on (headache, chest hurts etc) and I've been upping Vit C, D, taking oil of oregano and the symptoms are subsiding - BUT - I am getting a really sore throat. I have been gargling with salt, but it's not... (more)
Works for me all the time: warm water and about a teaspoon of cayenne pepper -- gargle with it every 15 minutes or so for a couple hours. It almost always clears my sore throat up before the two hours is up.
A friend of mine has been having these cold, numb and white fingers and toes. It appears to be Raynaud's 'disease'. Cold (especially when humid) is the major cause, maybe some stress... Does anyone have any experience or paleo tips for her? She's... (more)
I have noticed that I usually get shivers after eating otherwise normal food. Could this be related to a hypothyroid, or my blood sugar being out of whack?
so I have had pretty chronic nasal congestion for as long as I can remember (am in my early twenties). I was hoping going mostly paleo* would clear it up, but to no avail. In the interest of 80/20 and the pareto principle, etc., are there... (more)
This is my first Paleo winter. I have noticed that it takes me longer to fall off to sleep because once I get into bed my feet are really cold - And only once I get my feet a a little warm will I get comfortable. I do not remember this happening... (more)
Tim Ferris' new book has an interesting chapter called Ice Age about using the cold for weight-loss and it comes at just the right time (at least here in these northern parts) for some experimenting. His basic premise is that the body burns up... (more)
Aquatic mammals in an ice-cold environment store lots of fat. Think of seals, walruses, whales, and even polar bears. I don't know about cause and effect, but the correlation is not the one you want.
I live in England (East Midlands) and its just starting to get cold. Since going paleo I try to consider everything from an evolutionary perspective instead of just doing the same old. Clearly paleo man was lean and muscular so I'm wondering how... (more)
There are a couple related threads but I am just after group opinion through numbers. I would put a poll in if I could, give me a yes/no to fasting and/or exercise. Thank you!
Since childhood, I have suffered from common colds at a much higher frequency than others. I'm not sure if my paleo diet over the last few months has brought about an improvement or can. Any pointers?
Has anyone read Caesar's Commentary on the Gallic Wars? His discussions of the (paleo) Germanic tribes is very interesting. Meat? Check. Raw dairy? Check. Cold baths? Check. Plenty of time outdoors? Check. Great physical size, strength, and... (more)
