Was feeling flu type symptoms, went to see my doctor and turns out I contracted to H1N1 flu virus. I hear all these stories about people having life threatening issues from this strain. I'm a 28 yr old male who eats strict paleo, regular excercise, supplement wisely and get plenty of sleep. Should I worry?

I remember the last time I had the flu and no way could I type anything. I could barely lift my head out of bed. Seems like you will heal quick!

Did you actually get tested or is this a guesstimated diagnosis?

Interesting, vitamin C is a COMT inhibitor (which breaks down your stress hormones like adrenaline / dopamine.) I have a slow COMT, hence, too much energy when I took all that C. Genetically, others might have the fast COMT and be evened out by the C.

listen to your doctor a healthy 28 year old male would be in a the lowest category for risk (not knowing your whole medical history, this is just an estimate). So whether you take tamiflu is your decision -- but I would yeild to your doctors expertise.

You can take the vitamin C until you can't absorb anymore and it gives you diarrhea, into the 4-8g range. You might be amazed at how much of the stuff you can eat while fighting an infection. Lipospheric C might be worth checking out if you really want to get the saturation up towards IV levels (I did this a few times while sick and it kicked up too much adrenaline.) Personally, I prefer smaller chewable 500mg doses throughout the day like candy.

For a minute while sick, I was drinking yellow nano-sphere C mixed with blue gatorade.. cool looking cocktail.

Doc gave me tamiflu, but ive just heard so much bad info on that stuff. Dr Mercola really frowns upon it. Really want to beat this thing naturally. Gonna up vit D and C big time as well as broth.

Doc said go home and rest, drink plenty of fluids yada yada. Prescribed me tamilflu which I'm very reluctant to take. Drank some bone broth tonight with some lemon water/apple cider vinegar. Couple pills of source naturals wellness formula

Vitamin C for the win. As much of it as you want to eat, as often as you want to eat it. Maybe some D3 too. Get well soon!

  • H1N1 flu is also known as swine flu. It's called swine flu. While swine flu isn't as scary as it seemed a few years ago, it's still important to protect yourself from getting it.
  • Swine flu is contagious, and it spreads in the same way as the seasonal flu. When people who have it cough or sneeze, they spray tiny drops of the virus into the air. If you come in contact with these drops or touch a surface that an infected person has recently touched, you can catch H1N1 swine flu.
  • It's hard to tell whether you have swine flu or seasonal flu, because most symptoms are the same. But it is highly recommended that you have to take proper medical attention.

I'm definitely a spammer.

Risk factors that would be worrisome: history of asthma or other serious pulmonary problems, obesity, other co-morbidities (any other things wrong with you going on at the same time which could further tax your body's ability to mount a defense).

If none of these, don't worry. Make sure anybody closely exposed to you within the first 24 hours of your symptoms is told and gets a chance to take some Tamiflu if they want to.
