The cookbooks on paleocook.org are incredible! I always have a hard time figuring out what to make for dinner that is in my paleo diet that even my kids will want to eat. The website even has a dessert cookbook that I have used several times for my bookclub girls. So far all the recipes have been spectacular and I have gotten rave reviews at dinner time with my pickiest eater who is 6 years old. :)

About price, I use the Kindle app on my Android phone (also available for computer and probably iPhone.) The books are cheaper on Kindle than printed and there are tons and tons of free ones that you can pick recipes from

If you're on a budget, there is a wealth of recipes on the internet to be had for nothing. Start with the following:

www.chowstalker.com

www.thefoodee.com/blog

www.janssushibar.com (yes, this is a shameless plug for my blog)

There are tons of other excellent paleo/primal/real food blogs out there, and the first two sites will lead you to a great many of them.

I am building my own recipe notebook from recipes I have mostly found on the net. There are many sites with recipes that are specifically paleo, but you can adapt others with substitutions...use butter, etc. The absolute best recipes come from old cookbooks (pre 1960 or earlier). They were using the animal head to tail, not afraid of butter, no processed ingredients, many recipes for game. Shocking difference. Even Joy of Cooking shows you how to skin a squirrel! I pick these up cheap at flea markets when I can. Calf fries anyone?

I do like owning books but most of my knowledge on all things paleo are from free sites like Paleohacks, Everyday Paleo, Mark's Daily Apple, Robb Wolf and a new one I found Paleo Diet Lifestyle.

Did I mention they have crap tons of information and recipes that are FREE?

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Practical Paleo, Make it Paleo, or Paleo comfort foods? Great resources. Gather looks like it is also pretty good. I haven't bought it yet, but will be soon! Webiste you should have a look at would be nomnompaleo, PaleOMG, Fast Paleo. I have listed my suggested resources here:

I liked Well Fed, by Melissa Joulwan. The recipes were decent, but her meal planning section was amazing and kind of changed my life. 2 hours of cooking on Sunday to have ten minutes meals all week long? Yes, please!

My library system had a few that I was able to check out. That was a nice way to preview which ones I would most. Or you could take some time at your local Barnes and Noble and browse them. I think B&N will order books in for you without obligation to purchase if it's something they do not normally stock. I've done that before.

Do you ever go to NomNomPaleo.com? The couple that runs this paleo food blog recently put out a cookbook called "Nom Nom Paleo - Food for Humans." A lot of the recipes are available for free on the website, but so many more are just in the book. One of the reasons I like this particular website is that the writers are funny and relatable and full of food-related anecdotes, but more importantly, the food is freaking delicious. The blog frequently has the recipe included with the reaction and critique of their young son - helpful if you're cooking for a family!

I really enjoyed the Paleo Cook Book from Paleo Hacks and also the 1000 recipes from Paleovalley to be really good.

When I first started converting to the caveman lifestyle I really found two books to be a really good source of recipes and helpful information to kick start my new paleo lifestyle.

They were Your Guide To Paleo from PaleoLeap and the 30 Day Guide To Paleo from Primal Palate.

My personal favorite is the Paleo Recipe Book by Sebastian Noel. It's loaded with over 350 paleo diet recipes. It has paleo diet breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes. Even some yummi dessert recipes. It's the one I use the most.

Tim Ferriss - The 4 hr Chef

Most of the recipes are almost if not already pale. More importantly it will teach the structure of cooking that will make cookbooks and recipes less nesesary (you will learn the key tools of cooking)

Well Fed and Nom Nom Paleo are great. But I love cookbooks. I really get most of my info for free on line. Also most recipes can be adapted. Just stick with the real foods. I am slowly adding to my pantry, as I run out of things I then replace with a better ingredients. It's a process.

After trying several diets that promised me incredible weight loss, and proved to be only a waste of time, I have discovered the Paleo Diet. One friend was on such a diet due to some health problems. After a brief discussion with my friend I found out some incredible facts about what we eat. Humans are designed to eat some specific foods like meat, roots and seeds, fruits and vegetables, basically those foods that were available 10,000 years ago to our ancestors. Our species didn't evolved much in the past 1,000,000 years, but in less than 5000 years we changed dramatically our way of eating, introducing high levels of sugar and fats, processed foods, cereals, milk, chemicals and other bad things into our daily diet. Of course, this change is the cause of many diseases like diabetes, obesity, hearth diseases, and a Paleo Diet is an answer to these problems we are facing.

Yeah looking for the right cookbook / recipe book can be difficult Ive been looking around as well, but its not to hard if you know what your looking for that can also fit in your budget. I found one that you can gain instant access to in a Ebook so you just have to download it, once you buy it, and you get 60 days to try it...I can look for others but most out there you have to buy unless you just want one or two recipes then you can probably just google a Paleo recipe for free... here is the site I found with a small review as well as a link to a Paleo Recipebook site... http://myeverydayliving101.blogspot.com/ Hope this helps. =)

Although I don't purchase paleo cookbooks because I just get my meal ideas from regular food blogs and from stuff that just comes into my head, this one would be the one I bought if I were going to purchase a paleo cookbook for sure.

Paleo Lunches and Breakfasts on the Go by Diana Rogers , highly recommended by Nom Nom Paleo.

Why cookbooks and not the web? Some of the best paleo recipes are on www.nomnompaleo.com, www.health-bent.com, and www.paleomg.com.

Anyway, I second the recommendation for Joulwan's Well Fed. Her site isn't a go-to for me, but I really like the book because it's more about the hows of creating a week of paleo meals--it's more tricks and strategies. I have Make it Paleo and Paleo Comfort Foods and, while I'm happy to have supported those authors, I never open them.

ETA: It kind of also depends on what type of cook you are. I think the reason I don't consult those books often is because I'm a "read 10 recipes and then wing it" sort of cook. If you're a more precise cook, then you may do better with them.

Hi!

My name is Nikki Young, author of the Paleo Recipe Cookbook. Before I introduce you to my delicious recipes, I want to tell you straight off the bat that the paleo diet is not a diet designed by diet doctors, faddists, or nutritionists; it is a diet designed by nature. It is not the latest weight loss program or celebrity diet that leaves you craving sugar-laden foods.

You are welcome to visit http://paleorecipecookbook.org

Have a great day ahead, Nikki Y.

But my friend recommended me a site http://www.funnycookingbook.com. There I was able to find a book with lots of recipes to lose weight. Sorry for my English. It's my third language

I like @Nancy64 am building my own book from screen shots I've taken over a ton of different sites. I also have ones that need converting (those that are good ideas, close to paleo and just need a few tweaks).

Evenutally I'd like to print them out and bind them but for now I have over 700 items from a ton of sites.

Just google 'paleo recipes' 'primal recipes' gluten free, sugar free recipes and you'll get tons! you can subscribe to them and get daily updates of new stuff they've invented!

I love the internet!!
