Read up on Attia, he has some good info on bonk-proofing your runs. You might want to check out SuperStarch (modified corn starch), but it's not very paleo. Attia specifically salts his water on long runs, going through grams of the... (more)

You cycle that much and I don't see you mentioning one dense carbohydrate source you consume. That is your problem. Comments: Stick with the coffee or not, but consider having a proper breakfast as you are expending a lot of calories... (more)

So I'm an injured (fat) cardio bunny. I've been running 10-20 miles a week for the last 20 months, including 3 half marathons. However, 3 weeks ago, I wrecked my shoulder and my consultant has strongly advised me that I won't be able to run for at... (more)

I ride my bike on the trainer during the winter. I cannot do long cardio indoors though, too boring. I tend to prefer tabata intervals when I am cycling. 8 rounds of 20s full spring followed by 10s slow recover. It's 4 minutes of absolute... (more)

If the anabolic window is much greater than previously thought (24 hours), then why does calorie cycling work?

The answer is because the post-exercise anabolic window is not constant, but diminishes with time. Additionally, there are diminishing returns to calorie consumption beyond a certain point. This is because 1) you can only digest and absorb so... (more)

I am in Ketosis (checked with Ketostix). For the past two and a half weeks, I haven't really been sleeping. I probably REM cycle a whopping 5 hours every night, sometimes 4, and occasionally 6-7. When I wake up I still feel a bit tired, but I'm... (more)

Cardio isn't strictly paleo, but I've got to get to work somehow. I cycle a bit, commuting (at speed) around 20 miles a day. I try to limit my carb intake, generally it's less than 30g (about 6-10% of my daily intake). The rest is split between... (more)

I want to try carb cycling, but I'm unsure of what carbs to indulge in on high-carb days. Just paleo-approved ones, yes? Can it be a go-to-town-on-fruit day, or would that be mucking with insulin too much? I'm also unsure of how high to go,... (more)
