Is Gelatin a Laxitive?

I bought some Knox gelatin, intending to just try it, after reading a few people say it had helped them with sleep, pain, fatigue, and weight loss.

I've been mostly Paleo AIP for a couple of months now, and using bone broth every day, all because of my years-long Chronic Fatigue. For about a week, I've had a really hard time sleeping, waking a lot in the night, and being in pain.

Yesterday, I ate about 2 T. of the gelatin divided into several servings of broth, kombucha, and coconut porridge. I consume all of these items regularly, only the gelatin is new. I'm now trying to determine whether the strong laxative effect is a result of the gelatin, or some non-related GI bug. Not quite diarrhea, but very close.

Anyone else experienced this? Should I have eased into the gelatin more gently? Is this a problem because of my leaky gut/weak digestion?

Thats weird. I eat knox all the time and i find it soothing.

No, I've been trying to have gelatin every night and I haven't had that problem.

Yes it had the same effect on me too. I would ease into it to be gentler with your body. I dive into the deep end all the time and my body pays for it. Best to do it gradually.
