Please hack my diet?

Hey everyone!

I started eating Primal or lacto paleo in an effort to lose weight.

4 months ago I was 332, now I'm 262. I'm a 5'9 35 year old male. Here's what I eat on a typical day. Please let me know if there's anything I should add to my diet or if you think I'm really missing out on some nutrition. Thanks.

I eat 1800 calories a day, 60% fat, 25% protein, 15% carbs. I don't get much exercise other than in my daily routine where I walk about 2.5 miles.


Pastured eggs, uncured bacon, fruit (typically a pear, apple, or strawberries), kombucha, coconut water, kerrygold butter, coconut oil, coffee (I have bulletproof coffee with my bacon and eggs), sheep's milk yogurt


Grass fed 85/15 ground beef, vegetables(spinach, mushrooms, cucumbers, onions, peppers, garlic, tomatoes), olive oil or butter, cheese, fruit.


Meat (beef, lamb, pork, chicken, or fish) and more of the vegetables listed above, and either butter, olive oil, and coconut oil.


Almond butter, macadamia nuts, prosciutto, fruit, cheese

Based on your results, I think you're doing great. Your fat loss has been phenomenal. The only thing I would suggest is minimize fruit; one or two servings per day. These less fruit the better and berries over "regular fruit". Replace fruit calories with veggies. Your exercise pattern matches mine... I did minimal exercise, just walking and some self weight.

I am floored by how much weight you have lost! Clearly you are doing something right and I couldn't be happier for you! I would just ditch the cheese if you ever hit a plateau.

Your diet seems absolutely delicious and healthy! Bravo :-)

Honestly I would not change anything in the diet (even the fruit portion look okay for me). If you want to lose weight, maybe you could try intermittent fasting. As you are very regular with your meals I think something like "eat stop eat" could be appropriate for you. Basically, you fast for 24-hours twice a week and the rest of the time you eat normally. I think a 24-hour water fast once per week would be already beneficial.

Thanks again for the encouragement!

The fat has been melting off, I really can't believe it. Every one I know asks me my secret and I smile and say, "bacon and butter".

Yeah, I do eat a good bit of fruit. I love it, hate veggies, love fruit. I carefully track how much I'm consuming and I don't go over 68 grams of carbs a day.

But, I think you're right I should cut back a bit on the fruit and eat some more veggies.

Walking has been great. Now that I don't ache all over any more walking is much more fun. I'll be adding some weight lifting soon as it's time to head back into the gym. I was a power lifter in my teens and early 20s.
