So I've seen posts about food for a birthday party but not about drinks for a party. We are new to paleo, though we've lived low carb for awhile. My son is going to be 1 in January and we are planning a lunch party for him. Everyone else at the... (more)
How old is your son? Over 21: Hard cider Under 21: Hard cider Under 21 and cops around: Martinelli's cider Edit: I see he's going to be 1. Answer still stands.
Ok, so I've been enjoying the benefits of a paleo-style diet for a while. I foray into more neolithic diet only in a few areas. The first of those is dairy. I do eat some fermented dairy (raw-milk yogurt, Greek-style), cheese (mostly hard... (more)
I drink it sometimes as a substitute for kombucha actually. Yeah, I caught the kombucha addiction after giving up soda. Kevita is a much better choice since it has about half the carbs of most brands of kombucha. It's definitely better than soda,... (more)
i know coffee isnt paleo, but i drink it anyway, in my pre paleo days I used to drink ALOT of iced coffee drinks( usually with soy milk and later on i switched toregular milk) , the type you get from places like starbucks that tend to be sugar... (more)
I like to enjoy a few alcoholic drinks on the weekends. I have been doing NorCal Margaritas for a couple months. I was just wondering if anyone has played around with other Paleo alcoholic beverages???
I have some below that I like plain or liquored up for in-home or taken to parties. I gave the booze options that will work best. You literally can puree any fruit, add an aromatic, cut with a little water and add booze or seltzer to most anything... (more)
As of March 2011, FireFly has started making a "Skinny Sweet Tea Vodka." Their vodka is distilled in South Carolina from Grapes and the Tea is sweetened with Stevia. While I know its not Paleo, I loved this stuff before going Paleo and I wouldn't... (more)
Now I know nothing beats the sweet nectar of the gods (water), but I gotta admit I wouldn't mind switching up for a water like beverage that isn't coconut water and isn't terribly unhealthy. So they have a website and a lot of interesting flavors... (more)
But.. but.. but.. you GUYS! Why don't you just make your own instead of purchasing this stuff? Then you know what you're getting as it has your fingerprints all over it. I keep mason jars of different tea in the fridge - green, black, herbal, and... (more)
Lately, I've been drinking a latte made with grass-fed heavy cream, espresso, and cinnamon, on an almost daily basis (about a large cups worth). Tastes good, and keeps morning hunger pangs away until I'm settled in at work. Any reason I should cut... (more)
Obviously, most things in Starbucks are not paleo. A quick Google search finds food options at Starbucks that can be considered paleo if eaten occasionally (e.g. bananas, roasted nuts), but not much info. on their drinks (other than simple teas).... (more)
Do you have recipes from traditional fermentation drinks, maybe like kombucha, kefir, or more exotic like primitive germanic fermented fruit ale? Or something different from traditional and indigenous cultures?
Is drinking carbonated water detrimental to health? It seems like it would be a great, refreshing alternative to regular drinking water, but I'm inclined to think that our bodies did not evolve around it at all. Thoughts?
I have a relative following paleo who has severe gingivitis. She's been doing paleo 80/20 for about 8 months and while it has gotten better, her gums still bleed when flossing. I suspect that her "cheats" and some relatively sugary/acidic drinks... (more)
Following on from the discussion of things it's safe to drink a lot of what do people think about rooibos (red) tea? I used to drink a lot of it, typically brewed the traditional way, i.e. as strong as it can possibly be. Being full of... (more)
Maybe you should ask this as a question about polyphenols in general. I tend to think along the lines of Stephen: (not using the quote feature to preserve the links) As a little side note, polyphenols are those wonderful plant antioxidants that... (more)
It can be argued that alcoholic beverages aren't part of the original human diet but, on the other hand, they can be viewed as an essential part of a contemporary diet. What are your favourite paleo-friendly drinks? I would personally list Dry... (more)
I'm a newbie to Paleo - and I struggle to drink plain water. I enjoy Mio added to my water - but I'm guessing this is NOT Paleo. I know I can add fruit to water for flavor etc, and that eventually as I wean off the "sugary" flavor of Mio and... (more)
Filtered Water, mineral water, tea, coffee, raw milk if you can get it and it doesn't have bad effects, kombucha, bone broth, NorCal Margaritas, whiskey, burbon, vodka, tequila, blood of an animal you've hunted down. :)
I saw the documentary below that highlights that although sugar does not contain as much calories as fat, it has such an impact on the chemistry of our body and our way of dealing with incoming calories that is it one the leading causes of... (more)
I'm getting bored with drinking herbal tea every day and I'm trying to cut back on my coffee/caffeine intake (as well as the milk) so I'm on the look out for any suggestions for other types of hot drinks. They need to be Paleo, i.e. nutritious... (more)
Try some Yerba Mate. Lower caffeine than coffee, great flavor, and smooth, long-lasting buzz. Been drinking this stuff for years and I love it. Can be bought from most organic grocers now, or online from such companies as Guayaki.
I refuse to give up that which wakes me up in the morning, I don't do coffee, too mainstream, I drink Mio in my 16 oz. cup of water with my Omeprazole, then afterwards if available, I drink my Mountain Dew flavors of White Out, Voltage and... (more)
