Uggla, sounds to me like you were dehydrated (especially if the pain was in the low back, right above the butt). The edema probably aggravates this further. The biggest problem with an all-water fast, is that many (myself included) tend to drink... (more)

So, I'm prone to water retention. Every once in a while, I'll overdo it on the salt, or I get blasted with a wall o' PMS, and with it comes this flood of edema. It's as though my body simply loves to hold on to water for dear life or something,... (more)

Being low on potassium can cause water retention. Coconut water is a good source. I like to buy the young coconuts, but the tetra-pak stuff is becoming increasingly easier to find. I seek it out if I suspect that's why I'm puffy. Steer clear of... (more)

If you can find ground chicory 'coffee' this is great for water retention and tastes just as good as coffee without the caffeine. I think in the U.S. it is pretty hard to find though..... I just looked in Mrs. Grieve's Modern Herbal and I read... (more)
