I am looking for a site that sells really good antarctic krill oil particularly in bulk so I can get the lowest price, any suggestions?

danno, unfortunately, the krill oil business is almost a monopoly. There is one firm in Canada that effectively is the only mass volume producer, and all of the name brands you buy in a store are in fact just relabeling that one company's oil.... (more)

Grassfed, pastured dairy is higher in Omega3 fatty acids and CLA. What kind of Omega3s are in pastured, grassfed dairy?

A good fraction of it is ALA, the omega-3 not given enough credit by paleo folks (because it's the plant-sourced omega-3).

I know most tribal populations had access to fish, some of which have 2000 dha/epa every 6 ounces. Most fish oils only give 200-300 per caplet, i'd have to take up to 9 caplets to get near those numbers. My question is, why are people saying to... (more)

The best brand is called "decrease your omega 6 (so you don't overload on PUFAs) and consume shellfish instead." It doesn't exactly roll of the tongue like "Nordic Naturals" or "Eskimo-3" do, but don't let the name fool you- it's a great brand... (more)

Anyone know the approximate amounts of EPA and DHA the Inuit consume(d)? I know it's way up there, but just wondering if there's some good data on the numbers.

Average American consumption of EPA/DHA (from fish) is 0.1-0.2g/day. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fish-oil/NS_patient-fishoil/DSECTION=dosing Eskimo study shows they consume about 20x more Omega-3 from fish than Americans in lower 48... (more)

I've noticed that a lot of people keep saying that we're poor converters of ALA to EPA and DHA, so we should get our omega 3s from meat and fish. The latter is true, but grass fed beef contains ALA, not EPA and DHA. ALA is the same fat in... (more)

I think that dietary ALA intake is more necessary than commonly thought. It is argued that the only function of ALA in the body is to produce DHA and EPA - thus it is not required if you have enough fish in your diet. Thereby, the conversion of... (more)

Flax, canola, and friends have lots of ALA that doesn't get converted to DHA/EPA. What if anything does it get converted to, and is the end product good, bad, or neutral? (P.S. I'm not looking for "PUFA gets oxidized!!!")
