I'm reaching a 6 months period of strict Paleo. I literally didn't cheat once since the beginning of March. It seems like I managed to enhance my body quite bit, even overcame hypothyroid symptoms. No constipation anymore, clear thinking, lot of... (more)

Remineralization might be a pipedream. I've only seem WAP types talking as if this is possible, conventional dentistry says it's not likely. I myself have been doing supplemental D & K with lots of vitamin A with the hopes of keeping... (more)

Hi, If one is taking fermented cod liver oil every day would it be too much to eat beef liver once a week as well? I'm thinking it could create a vit A problem (too much of it). Thanks

Has anyone tried the new infused coconut oil? I'm getting ready to order the FCLO/BO, but saw there is the coconut oil one now. Is it comparable? Easier to take? Sometimes the gel is a little thick for me. Any thoughts on this product are... (more)

I accidentally left my bottle of Green Pastures fermented cod liver oil on the windowsill for about an hour. I'd say it was probably subjected to temps around 75 or 80 F. The bottle was about 1/4 full and the sun was shining on the top half of the... (more)

If I take the recommended dose of Green Pasture FCLO each day, would it be redundant to also take a basic vitamin D supplement in pill form? Do any of you take both? So many people talk about supplementing with vitamin D, to the extent that it... (more)

Best to get your D3 blood level tested, so you aren't supplementing blindly. Good range is 50-60 ng/ml or 60-80 ng/ml if you have any inflammatory condition. More info at www.vitamindcouncil.org There is usually not enough D3 in FCLO (without... (more)

This is probably a stupid question, but I'm a little confused about something my naturopath recommended for me. I recently started taking fermented cod liver oil (Green Pasture brand) and I found that it helped clear up my skin quite a bit. I do... (more)

A slightly different take on the question than this one: http://paleohacks.com/questions/1096/cod-liver-oil-and-vitamin-a-are-toxic#axzz25bPKjtWe I keep seeing folks recommending Cod Liver Oil (fermented CLO is especially popular) and wonder if... (more)

Seems to me that some folks do push the limit on Vitamin A/retinol, via supplementation with isolates or foods. I know that many point to the poor conversion of BC to VA. The studies I've seen that show low-responders to BC also show that they... (more)

FWIW, I cut out the fish oil and only use FCLO/butter oil now, as I found the FCLO to surpass the fish oil in regards to benefits. I also stopped taking an extra Vitamin D supplement as the FCLO should provide adequate Vitamin D as well. I say... (more)

Wish I could remember where (maybe Chris Kresser's?), but I recall reading that skate liver oil was similar to cod liver oil except it was lower in vitamin A. And Green Pastures says that skate liver oil contains: unique nutrients ... such as ... (more)

I just did a bunch of averaging on GPP's FCLO figures to get some ballpark nutritional figures for Vitamin A & D content. They don't have as much data on SLO (skate liver oil) but you can average their IU/mL figures to compare its vitamin... (more)

I'd done some research into FCLO a while back, and I remember reading from several sources that its Vitamin D content was "standardized" around 1000 IU/tsp., or 200 IU/mL. However, I'm looking at Green Pasture's "Test Data" page (LINK), and they... (more)

There have been several threads on supplements, but not much evidence indicating how useful they really are. Chris Kresser just wrote a piece about how he doesn't recommend supplements for most people, but at the end, notes a couple things people... (more)
