I am just skeptical of the "grass fed" label at any large store, just like "organic". It is not precisely defined or regulated, and the stores know that it is good for marketing, so they tend to blur and corrupt the meaning of it so that they can... (more)
http://www.certified-organic-beef.com/ everything looks good, grass fed/finished pasture, organic, yada yada yada. But then why is only classified as step 4 and not step? What are they missing that is making then unable to achieve the step 5... (more)
You do realize that if the cows are pastured and free range, there is a 100% chance that they are eating wheat and other grains/seeds of grasses when in season, right? Advice: stop worrying about this so much.
I can't find 100% grass fed cows' milk in or around Charlotte NC. I can't even find any store that will special order it. Not Whole Foods and not Earth Fare. Any suggestions? Thank you.
I've been eating a lot of grass fed beef lately, like a pound a day usually and I freaking love it.. finally I'm full on paleo. However, now my stool looks really messed up. It's like dark yellow color and has a bunch of what looks like white... (more)
I went grocery shopping at whole foods today for grass fed and finished beef. I couldn't find anything that said specifically "grass-fed" in the meat section. All I found was vegatarian diet. Is this the same?
I'm looking for a place to buy grass fed beef. I recent reply to one of my questions raised the point that paying the freight to ship cross country may be worth it compared to my local pricing here in New Jersey. Would you mind telling me where... (more)
I'm 15 and have adopted the primal lifestyle! I get organic meat and organic free-range eggs, but I'm pretty sure they're fed 'organic cereals' and 'organic wheat'. Can I get pastured meat/eggs in supermarkets or do I need to nag my parents to buy... (more)
I wonder why? The eggs I got from the farmer's market didn't cause acne, while the omega-3 free range eggs at my grocery probably did (but not sure). I tried grass fed meat from the farmer's market AND whole foods. They both taste superior to... (more)
Apologies as this is not a question but hopefully an answer. I am a farmer in Cornwall and sell my grass fed beef nationwide. I have been using the same farming practices from my father and grandfather and am only now learning how beneficial our... (more)
Hello! Instead of reviving an old post with a #norway tag, I decided to make a new one to share some news. The grocery store / super market chain Rema 1000 has launched a product line ("Pampas") that includes fresh grass fed beef from Urugay.... (more)
I've been studying low carb diets for years, but 20 days ago I finally decided to definitely change my eating habits and now I'm full paleo. At first, in order to not feel overwhelmed, I ignored omega 3 to omega 6 ratios and postponed my decision... (more)
So, I want to diversify my animal eating(currently consuming mostly grass fed beef from a side of beef), and a local farm sells pork sides, but he grain feeds(with local VT grain) his pigs. Should I pass, or go for it since it's a local... (more)
If the price is right and the pigs are humanely raised, I'd go for it. Pigs aren't grass-eaters, I believe they just kinda eat whatever they find; it would probably be pretty tough to find affordable pork that feeds exclusively on forage.
I just got my quarter of grass fed beef and asked specifically for suet so I can make tallow. Now I have the challenge of figuring out the best way of going about it. Anybody make their own? Feel free to post links or videos that will help me... (more)

Since federal law in the US requires cows to be grass fed (pastured) at least 4 months out of the year, a company can be slick with their labeling and say "grass fed". Maybe as a community we can all start advocating for % of grass fed to be labeled. (more)
Rather than looking for USDA-certified grassfed labeling, look for certification from the American Grassfed Association. All AGA-certified livestock is fed a diet of grass and forage from weaning until harvest and is raised exclusively on pasture.... (more)

I couldn't find an answer to this in the other threads so I would like some opinions. What would be better? A Raw Milk Organic Cheese that is not grass fed or a Grass Fed Organic Cheese that is not raw. That seems to be my choice locally.

What does good grass-fed butter taste like? I bought some grass-fed for the first time (Pastureland unsalted) and it has a flavor I can't stomach. Should it taste strongly of grass? It's a very cowy flavor.
Another whey protein question I know. Has anyone else tried it? The ingredients listed are: whey protein concentrate, cocoa, gum acacia, and stevia. Obviously the last two are the least desirable. It tastes pretty good and is the cheapest grass... (more)
