<p>Hey friends. </p> <p>I currently wear minimalist, zero-drop Merrell running shoes with vibram soles for my workouts. I'm looking for a new pair of shoes, and am weighing the options between fivefingers and inov8's. </p> <p>Has anybody used either or both? Any comparisons between the two would be very helpful. </p> <p>Sidenote- if you have any recommendations for minimalist shoes that are fit for an office setting, I'd love to hear them!</p> <p>Thanks!</p>

<p>For me, hands down the Inov8 Flite 195. I lift, run, and CF in 'em.</p> <p>Not sure where you live but if you can try the different styles it's worth it. The 230's are almost the same, just a bit more padding.</p> <p>I've tried: Barefeet/socks. Sambas. Chucks. Chucks with the liners ripped out. The Inov8 wins. But that's just for me - you gotta try to find what works for you :)</p>

<p>I wear Vibram Sprints for crossfitting and haven't had a problem once I got accustomed to "barefooting." I love that I can soak them with some OxyClean or Borax if they get smelly/dirty (I wear them outside too). </p>

<p>Inov-8s are better for CrossFit simply because there are certain high impact things that are difficult to do with Vibrams (I've tried both).</p> <p>Take for instance high repetition box jumps, Vibrams aren't very good for this as they have very little cushion and your feet/calves/ankles will hate you afterwards. They're also not very good for anything requiring deep ankle flexion, like olympic lifting, because they have no heel lift.</p> <p>Vibrams are good shoes, just not as well adapted to the hard and fast CrossFit workouts as Inov-8s. I have the F-Lite 230s, which work great, just know that they won't hold up to rope climbs very long(the rubber is soft on the midsole).</p> <p>I have also heard great things about the new Reebok shoes for CrossFit, including many rave reviews from friends about them.</p>

<p>I'm not a crossfitter, but I do compete in a variety of strength sports and the following are the footwear choices I have made (my gym bag is a large duffel bag):</p> <p>Because I am flat-footed as well, I rip out any insoles to prevent me twisting my ankle from having artificial arch-support (arches cause my ankles to roll outward). </p> <p>Addidas baseball cleats for Highland Games </p> <p>Custom Olympic Weightlifting Shoes for "most" gym lifting (squats, cleans, standing press, pulls)</p> <p>DoWin Olympic weightlifting shoes for strongman stuff (I baby my custom shoes and won't use them "off platform") such as stone lifting and overhead stuff. </p> <p>Vibrams for <em>some</em> outdoor strongman stuff, box jumps, etc... (I also do the majority of my walking and running in Vibrams). When I deadlift instead of doing clean pulls, I either go barefoot or just wear the vffs. </p> <p>Old-school Vans Off The Wall hightops for any "walk with weight" events in strongman like Yoke, Farmers, etc... </p> <p>Since I don't really compete in strongman anymore I haven't had the need to get rock climbing shoes for the truck pull, but as I was a rock climber in high school it might be something else I add to my bag in the future. </p>
