Patrik 2010-09-16T03:57:51Z 2011-08-18T00:35:26Z
Some of you must be wondering this by now, given that I have had to edit/delete a few questions/comments by some of of you or suspend or delete you.

So what is up?
http://paleohacks.com/questions/10373/meta-what-are-patrik-paleohacks-policies-when-it-comes-to-self-promotion/10374#10374 Answer by Patrik for [META] What are Patrik/PaleoHacks' policies when it comes to self-promotion? Patrik 2010-09-16T04:02:46Z 2010-09-18T02:50:46Z
Answering my own question.

I prefer to use a light a touch on PaleoHacks as possible. However, some of you (you know who you are) have barged into PaleoHacks and started promoting your own business/project/etc etc

There is definitely a subjective, hazy line here between self-promotion that adds value to the community and self-promotion that looks, walks and quacks like spam. If I see the latter, I will delete it and suspend your account.

Note: I have no glib definition for spam-self-promotion - like pornography, I know it when I see it. Use your judgment.

I am not knee-jerk against self-promotion - but what does "get my goat" is when someone joins PaleoHacks and within 24 hours starts selfishly pushing their stuff.

Don't do it. There are a lot of great, smart people on PaleoHacks who have their own stuff they would love to promote, but don't, out of respect for the community.

Thanks and now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Keep being awesome.

PS I have updated the PaleoHacks FAQ here: http://paleohacks.com/faq
http://paleohacks.com/questions/10373/meta-what-are-patrik-paleohacks-policies-when-it-comes-to-self-promotion/10537#10537 Answer by Patrik for [META] What are Patrik/PaleoHacks' policies when it comes to self-promotion? Even if you make it look like a question "Can you provide me feedback for my blog/website/article?" it is not OK.

I will delete them and suspend you for at least a day.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/10373/meta-what-are-patrik-paleohacks-policies-when-it-comes-to-self-promotion/58998#58998 Answer by Karen for [META] What are Patrik/PaleoHacks' policies when it comes to self-promotion?
