Are these still quality food items? I just bought a couple cans of the bumblebee whole oysters and they actually taste pretty good.

One other question though... in cooked oysters, are they usually dark green inside? I've only had oysters like once before, so I really don't know. The ones that are more plump especially, have a decent amount of this green inside. They taste and smell ok.

They are very nutritious, but they have about 800% RDA of zinc in one can, so don't have them everyday.

I love oysters as a source of zinc and iron, have them once or twice a week to get plenty o' minerals. I like plain canned oysters as a nice stew and smoked oysters as wrapped in bacon. When I make sardine paddies, I usually throw a few chopped up oysters in there for extra flavour.

The green color in oysters is actually not an abnormal color. During the harvesting season, the oysters are still growing and ingest a large amount of plankton while they are still lean. This makes the "green feeds" visible through their outer skin.

I also made a call to them to ask how long they keep in the fridge : the answer is 2 days.
Oysters are delicious!

I eat about 3 to 4 cans a week with my salad.
