For the past year now I've had memory loss, to the point where I remember almost nothing about my past unless someone brings up the memory for me. I also have almost no short term memory and have a really hard time remembering things that happened just hours ago. It all started when my leaky gut syndrome got much worse last year. Since then I've had an out of control inflammatory response that is chronic and always feel very tired and stressed out.

I believe chronically elevated cortisol levels are to blame at least partially, but I'm wondering if there's more to it than that. Could it be a choline deficiency, and if so what's the best form of choline to take? I know eggs are high in it but I'm allergic to them.

My diet is at least decent, I don't have any junk food and try to eat lots of meat, veggies, fruit, and some rice and nuts.

Any suggestions on how to improve memory and clear up inflammation in the brain would be much appreciated.

When I first read the question, I thought it would be an older person trying to control memory loss due to some natural aging.

This sounds like a potentially serious health problem for someone so young. It doesn't seem to be typical "brain fog" if you can't recall entire events like that. I'm not trying to scare you or anything, but that might be a symptom of a brain tumor. I'm not saying it is, but if your memory is that bad, I would be a little more concerned than focusing just on your diet. It could be something more.

Please see a doctor and possibly try to get referred a neurologist or whatever they recommend.

This sounds serious!

If that's the case dealing with it for what it is would be an important step. What do you mean when you say you've got an out of control inflammatory response?

However you really ought to see a doctor and get a full history/examination.

If you have no short term and very little long term memory, that is an indication of something very serious. Don't mess around.
