<p>I just started the Paleo diet today. My question is, what brand of almond butter is best? I currently use Maranatha but noticed on the ingredient list it contains "cane sugar" and I know sugar is a no-no. Do all almond butters contain sugar?</p>

<p>the grocery store I usually shop at (in part) has a machine that turns almonds into almond butter before your eyes and the only ingredient is almonds. It is awesome but broken a lot which sucks. I used to have this kitchen thing I ordered online that I think was called the Magic Bullet (?) and you could make your own nut butters with it (I used to make my own peanut butter and almond butter-pre-paleo) so if you can buy something like that to add to your kitchen I would say the best way would be making your own at home. Then you could add some honey or whatever you want to it. Yum. I need to get another magic bullet...</p>

<p>I ate Maranatha from Costco for a long time, usually with something else. When I started having some on its own, I noticed it had a really pretty awful taste. Sort of like a paint thinner smell and taste. Turned out I had been eating rancid almond butter for a long time. I kept replacing it at Costco, and each time I had a new one it was bad, too.</p> <p>Got a Blendtec to make my own, and it fails. You have to add oil for it to work, and it heats it up really hot. Got the Blendtec special jar for $120 that does thicker things, and it still doesn't work well. Still gets it hot and the machine starts to make a smoking smell. It shut down once from overheating. Very frustrated with that product.</p> <p>Was getting tired of peanut butter and came across this page. May try some of these suggestions.</p> <p>By the way, I try to find raw almond butter. Look up roasted almonds and acrylamides. </p>
