She is worried about saturated fat and cholesterol and assuming that I can't mitigate her concerns about these what in addition to fruit should I suggest she eat for breakfast?
http://paleohacks.com/questions/131577/low-cholesterol-breakfast-foods/131579#131579 Answer by Marie for Low cholesterol breakfast foods Marie 2012-06-30T03:40:29Z 2012-06-30T03:40:29Z
hopefully you can point your friend to some good arguments against the lipid hypothesis, but if she's afraid, fruit and fish would be a wholesome breakfast that is low in saturated fat. Perhaps you can convince her to try some flaked coconut, nuts and berries considering even Dr. Oz himself says the coconut saturated fat is good for you.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/131577/low-cholesterol-breakfast-foods/131620#131620 Answer by DePaw for Low cholesterol breakfast foods DePaw 2012-06-30T13:28:25Z 2012-06-30T13:28:25Z
See if you can make her at least understand coconut oil is different, as the fatty acids are medium chain which can't be stored and all studies show is very good for the heart.

Then something like fish and coconut oil/milk is great breakfast. Throw in some tubers and you're pretty much eating a traditional polynesian diet.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/131577/low-cholesterol-breakfast-foods/131636#131636 Answer by Mike T for Low cholesterol breakfast foods Mike T 2012-06-30T16:13:02Z 2012-06-30T16:13:02Z
I agree with fish. Smoked salmon can be especially good for breakfast. Maybe with some avocado. Over long run though, I'd think it might be difficult to maintain a paleo diet while minimizing saturated fat and cholesterol. You'd be cutting out so many delicious and nutrient-dense options.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/131577/low-cholesterol-breakfast-foods/131653#131653 Answer by Cheryl for Low cholesterol breakfast foods Cheryl 2012-06-30T17:48:00Z 2012-06-30T17:48:00Z
The cholesterol issue is pure silliness. I just got my lipid profile back from my doctor's office - first blood work since going Paleo 10 months ago. My total cholesterol is 201 - my good cholesterol is WAY high (73) and my triglycerides are 43. My mom's side of the family all have crazy high cholesterol and eat a low fat, high carb diet and are ALL Type 2 diabetics. Oh should I mention I also eat 2 dozen eggs and at least a cup of ghee every week? I'm a 43 year old female. My doctor freaked out after telling her I was Paleo (explaining what that meant, of course) and that my blood work was so stellar - she just kept shaking her head and saying how is that possible with the amounts of saturated fats you eat?? Dig it, Lady. Paleo rules! :)

All that aside, breakfast can be anything - leftovers from dinner, nourishing bone broths with some veggies and protein in them (soup is one of my favorite breakfasts), stir fry, etc. Breakfast doesn't have to be bacon and eggs - though that's one of my favorites for dinner! Coconut oil is extremely healthy and good for us. My diet consists of 60% fat (ALL of it saturated), 25% protein and 15% carbs (fruits and veggies and once in awhile sweet potatoes). My doctor freaked out after telling her I was Paleo (explaining what that meant, of course) and that my blood work was so stellar - she just kept shaking her head and saying how is that possible with the amounts of saturated fats you eat?? Dig it, Lady. Paleo rules! :)

Here's an article that is helpful:

http://chriskresser.com/5-reasons-not-to-worry-about-your-cholesterol-numbers
http://paleohacks.com/questions/131577/low-cholesterol-breakfast-foods/131660#131660 Answer by Neil for Low cholesterol breakfast foods Neil 2012-06-30T18:45:46Z 2012-06-30T18:45:46Z
Just say:

"I have been doing this for MORE than a month. Many other Paleo eaters have been doing this for MORE than a month. I am not dead. They are not dead. It will not kill you, nor will it do permanent damage to your body. Do it for a month and see what happens. If your cholesterol skyrockets, then stop eating Paleo and go back to whatever random dietary guidelines you follow currently."

Another option is to tell her to stop eating breakfast. The claims that you need breakfast are just as dubious as the claims that dietary fat and cholesterol are bad.

If she's concerned about specific food types, have her eat meat and veggies for breakfast, just like lunch and dinner! It is, after all, just another meal in the day and shouldn't be treated TOO special just because it's the first one. Real food is real food regardless of where the sun is at the moment.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/131577/low-cholesterol-breakfast-foods/131686#131686 Answer by Heidi for Low cholesterol breakfast foods Heidi 2012-06-30T20:24:53Z 2012-06-30T20:24:53Z
Maybe she'd be willing to eat a veggie omelette made with egg whites (try to get her to use at least one yolk). Pork chops with apples make a fabulous breakfast. Or maybe she'd just like some tuna salad with veggies? Nothing wrong with eating typical lunch foods for breakfast!
http://paleohacks.com/questions/131577/low-cholesterol-breakfast-foods/131689#131689 Answer by Rigton for Low cholesterol breakfast foods Rigton 2012-06-30T20:40:42Z 2012-06-30T20:40:42Z
Lock her in a room with nothing but bacon. Problem solved!
