I have a prolactinoma (so high prolactin levels) and I'm overweight. Been paleo/primal for two years, including all during a very healthy pregnancy at age 49 last year. Was 50 lbs overweight before pregnancy, IVF hormones and meds didn't let my first 6 mo of paleo allow any weight loss. Once I became pregnant, weight came off. Baby was perfectly healthy and I lost 20 lbs DURING pregnancy, meaning after baby, placenta, fluids were out, I was down 40 lbs. immediately started gaining again and breast feeding did not work. Before pregnancy was exercising but now haven't got back into it yet. My diet is no grains, pastured eggs, grass fed meat, pastured chicken, coconut oil and berry smoothies, dark chocolate, raw milk, raw kefir, butter, veggies and a little fruit - stone fruit and berries.

I am on supplemental bio identical estrogen, and synthroid. I get migraines often, from weather changes or if I eat out and there was any MSG, or hormonal changes (which is why I am on estrogen, to keep levels steady, also my estrogen was low.)

Whyyyy did my fat effortlessly drip off while pregnant, and now it's all coming back? If anything my diet was worse because my OB was freaked that I was losing so much weight while pregnant, and I was not sick, so he had me up my calories so I had ice cream all the time in the third trimester. Still lost weight.

So I had all my labs done, and my "natural" doc wants to me visit a cardiologist, you know how it goes, they don't like the high cholesterol. Please please please hack them according to truth and not scare and CYA like she is doing.

Total cholesterol 297

LDL-c direct 136

Hdl-c 120

Triglycerides 62

Non Hal-c calculated 177

Apo B 108

LDL-p 1733

Sdldl 31

%sdLDL 31

Apo A1 218

Hdl-p 40.5

Hdl2 43

Apo B:API A-1 ratio calculated 0.49

Lp(a) mass 8

Myeloperoxidase 391

LO-pla 246

Hs-crp 1.8

Fibrinogen 429

Nt-proBNP 32

Galectin-3 21.0

AsperinWorks (urine) (pg/mg of creatinine) 2634

Insulin 7

Free fatty acid 0.42

Glucose 88

HbA1c 5.5

Estimated average glucose 111.2

25-hydroxy-vitamin D 95

Homocysteine 7

Hs-omega-3 index 8.5

Omega 3 total 11.3%

Alpha linolenic 0.4%

DPA 2.4%

ePA 1.4%

dHA 7.1%

Omega 6 total 32.8%

Arachidonic 16.5%

linoleic 12.4%

Cis-monounsaturated total 14.1%

Saturated total 41.1%

Trans total 0.7%

Any comments, suggestions, anything gratefully welcomed. Both of which can cause significant weight gain.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/136715/please-hack-my-labs-hormone-issues-post-baby-female/136729#136729 Answer by HRHMom for Please hack my labs - hormone issues, post baby female HRHMom 2012-07-19T23:30:27Z 2012-07-19T23:30:27Z
I'll tell you...I am a firm believer that pregnancy really does things to your body other than make some areas squishier than they used to be. I mean permanently changes your chemistry. I'm not a doctor, and I have not studied this, but have listened to many, many of my female friends and acquaintances talk about how different they are post baby.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/136715/please-hack-my-labs-hormone-issues-post-baby-female/136762#136762 Answer by Crowlover for Please hack my labs - hormone issues, post baby female Crowlover 2012-07-20T00:42:36Z 2012-07-20T19:11:35Z
Thyroid!?

Its like everything was tested but your thyroid. Why is that I wonder, given you are on thyroid hrt! There most definitely could be a low thyroid contribution here.

What is your Free T3, Free T4 and TSH. Also, its important for anyone with hypo-thyroid to know if they have the autoimmune form of the thyroid disease (Hashimoto's)
http://paleohacks.com/questions/136715/please-hack-my-labs-hormone-issues-post-baby-female/136985#136985 Answer by Dragonfly for Please hack my labs - hormone issues, post baby female Dragonfly 2012-07-20T19:31:21Z 2012-07-20T19:31:21Z
Your D level is slightly on the high end & may be impacting your sleep, which could be impacting your fat loss. Ideal range for hormonal balance is 60-80 ng/ml.

http://drgominak.com/vitamin-d

You may do better on supplemental bioidentical Progesterone instead of estrogen, which is an estrogen precursor (so your body can use it to make estrogen) & Prgesterone is often low post-partum. Progesterone is high in pregnancy.

Read Dr. John Lee's site for more info.
