While I was there it was near impossible to eat well, but we did our best. Not much meat or vegetables which I really missed. I got gardia while walking the track which tended to be only slight. Once I got to the dive location, must have had some more dodgy water and got full on gardia. I'm not one for big pharma, but there's not much choice in the j - so off to the pharmacy I went. Anyhoo, a few days later I was feeling better, but it's been 3 weeks since I arrived back home now and I'm not feeling 100% yet. I'm dosing up on acidophilus and feeling a little better.

But the problem I'm wondering about is that I just can't stomach the thought of eating meat? To be honest eating is a little blah (yes I've lost weight yay!).

But why would meat be so off putting now? The thought of cooking or eating meat just turns my stomach.

Cheers
http://paleohacks.com/questions/140748/distaste-for-meat-since-sickness/140794#140794 Answer by kalibex for Distaste for Meat since sickness kalibex 2012-08-05T12:25:58Z 2012-08-05T12:25:58Z
Are you completely certain you're over the Giardiasis? Fish, Shellfish are much easier. Also Bone broth will get you moving. then add small amounts of meat (like 3oz) with lots of veggies.

Just listen to your body, it knows what it needs.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/140748/distaste-for-meat-since-sickness/140807#140807 Answer by arugula for Distaste for Meat since sickness arugula 2012-08-05T13:33:35Z 2012-08-05T13:33:35Z
As a celiac, the first thought that struck me was "zinc deficiency." Zinc deficiency is notorious in the celiac forums for being at the root of a distaste for meat. But in general zinc deficiency causes "taste abnormalities" and chronic diarrhea can lead to zinc loss - so with giardia, you could be at risk of this. It's a catch 22 for a paleo eater because what foods are good zinc sources? meats. You might want to check with a Dr to make sure you do have a deficiency since one also doesn't want zinc toxicity - or if you do supplements don't overdo it. (Sorry, I feel have to give this kind of warning because I have some "all or nothing friends" who, if you give them a suggestion like this, they overdo it: "If some is good, even more is better, right?") Our approach, when my son was diagnosed with celiac at age 7, was to just have him have a zinc lozenge daily for a while until his tastebuds adapted and we got him eating more meat.
