First time poster here :)

Love this community, btw. :) Been following for a while.

Anyway, I had a question (obviously :)).

I eat paleo and have 3 square meals a day and occasionally do snack. I'm a student and always eat before class starts (which is usually 2-3 hours I am out, tops), so I've never had an issue.

Recently, though, I got a job at a cupcake + coffee shop. To get through the day I will bring along my coconut milk and make myself a latte so I can sort of get calories in/not get tired/etc. I feel like I need more than this though, especially when my shifts run through my normal meal times.

There is no room to bring a refrigerated meal; we have one small fridge and it is there to store buttercreams/milks, so I cannot bring a steak/hard boiled eggs/salad/etc.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what I could bring to eat that is shelf stable. At home, everything I eat except for nuts/tea/coffee is refrigerated.

Most of the people who work there will eat cupcakes to keep them going, but I need something more sustainable!

I am overdoing it on the nuts for sure, and was wondering if you all had any other options for me. Thanks so much!
http://paleohacks.com/questions/143018/snack-ideas-work/143034#143034 Answer by courtart for Snack ideas @ work courtart 2012-08-16T05:50:26Z 2012-08-16T05:50:26Z
I asked a really similar question yesterday and got some great answers-

http://paleohacks.com/questions/142709/snacks-to-store-in-my-desk-at-work#axzz23gXnRvIb
http://paleohacks.com/questions/143018/snack-ideas-work/143036#143036 Answer by apbergemann for Snack ideas @ work apbergemann 2012-08-16T05:56:52Z 2012-08-16T05:56:52Z
Things like string cheese, fresh deli meat, avocado, tuna, are things that will last through a whole shift.

Honestly, unless you eat your lunch at the very end of the day, you can leave most meals unrefrigerated for a few hours before you nuke it. I've brought everything from chicken breasts to chili to work, and just left it in my bag until I ate lunch.

Freezing your food is another option. It won't even be thawed by the time you heat it up.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/143018/snack-ideas-work/143046#143046 Answer by George Brodie for Snack ideas @ work George Brodie 2012-08-16T09:22:23Z 2012-08-16T09:22:23Z
sardines, apple sauce, hard boiled eggs will be fine for a couple of hours if not peeled already, avocado, lara bars, baggy with almond butter, grass fed whey, quality drli mea, fasting!, eat more at meal times so no snacking needed, green tea or another hot tea. frozen shrimp (should thaw by the time u need it), any veggies or salad items don't need refrig for that duration.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/143018/snack-ideas-work/143071#143071 Answer by AnarchyCaveman for Snack ideas @ work AnarchyCaveman 2012-08-16T14:20:02Z 2012-08-16T14:20:02Z
http://www.amazingpaleo.com/2012/07/30/paleo-bison-egg-muffins/
http://paleohacks.com/questions/143018/snack-ideas-work/143091#143091 Answer by Crystal for Snack ideas @ work Crystal 2012-08-16T15:48:18Z 2012-08-16T15:48:18Z
Paleo Kits, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, nuts, lunch meat, avocado.

I bring a big-a$$ salad to work every day, and I don't refrigerate it. As long as it doesn't get hot, it's fine. I keep the dressing separate until I'm ready to eat it. As another poster said, most cooked food will actually be fine for a few hours in an air conditioned room.

The other thing I do, when I know I'll have to leave my food in my car, is pack a small cooler.
