http://paleohacks.com/questions/143265/same-energy-with-coconut-oil-as-mct-in-bulletproof-coffee/143273#143273Answer by apbergemann for same energy with coconut oil as MCT in Bulletproof coffee?apbergemann2012-08-17T06:30:15Z2012-08-17T06:30:15Z
Coconut oil IS a MCT. Your body is going to metabolize them the same way, except you'll get more nutritional value from the coconut oil since it comes from natural sources.

http://paleohacks.com/questions/143265/same-energy-with-coconut-oil-as-mct-in-bulletproof-coffee/143283#143283Answer by Mscott for same energy with coconut oil as MCT in Bulletproof coffee?Mscott2012-08-17T09:18:54Z2012-08-17T09:18:54Z
Coconut oil and MCT oil are not exactly the same. MCT oil is typically made up of only capric acid and caprylic acid in roughly equal amounts. Coconut oil only contains about 15 grams of these fatty acids per 100 grams. This and the fact that coconut is only about 65% percent medium chain triglycerides means that chemically speaking there is a big difference between MCT oil and coconut oil.

Still, I doubt either oil will offer that different of results from an energy standpoint. MCT oil and coconut oil are both said to increase metabolism and energy and whatnot. This is seen in short term studies, but longer term studies show that this effect eventually goes away.

As I pointed out, MCT oil and coconut oil are structurally different, so it may be worth it to try it out MCT instead and see how you feel, but I'd say don't expect magic to happen.

It's tasty, though, and if you put a little butter in it's no different really than regular coffee with cream. Put a lot of butter in and then it does seem to quell appetite for a while. Today I used raw egg yolks instead of butter. Not quite as tasty but probably more nutrition.

I have some jaw dislocation problems, they think it is cartilage inflammation that is making my jaw dislocate (I actually didn't even realize it until I compared myself with pictures before and after). Anyways, everything that makes me more energetic, makes my body temperature rise, ... has the tendency to make my jaw more normal again. Now, MCT oil is tremendously good at this : it increases my body temperature like crazy, gives me tons of energy and improves my jaw a lot. I really lose weight from it (only in the belly area, but that is the only place I have weight to lose). Coconut oil helps, but its effects are pathetic in comparison.

That being said, I don't use MCT oil because I react to it (diarrhea and skin problems). It's also disgusting to drink of course.

Just to give you a better idea of the difference : coconut oil makes my temp increase 0.5 degrees, MCT oil increases it until it reaches at least 98°F (36.7°C).

I am diet controlled diabetic and was looking for a way to get cinnamon in my diet. ell, it is good and very effective.

The bonus? I began to get the belly bulge- middle age spread. I do exercise and have never had this layer growing in my mid section.

I noticed a week after beginning the coconut oil in coffee that my mid section shrank!

Another bonus, although the coffee doesnt have an oily texture, it moisturizes lips!

When I switched to MCT I noticed such a significant difference that I could not wait to have it with the BulletProof Coffee every morning. I ran out of MCT oil and noticed a large drop in my energy levels and feel almost addicted to this supplement. I had trouble with EVCO and gallbladder pain, saturated fat was most likely the issue as my diet has such limited amounts. When I researched this product I found that it bypasses the GI system and goes directly to the brain and effects chemistry in a positive manner. I have too many side effects with SSRIs so this option was a significant improvement for low serotonin levels. I cannot more highly recommend a product and have gone through several bottles using approx. 1.5TBSP per day, with Bulletproof Coffee (2C) and grass fed Ghee. My friends have noticed the difference in my mood and energy levels and hope to share this with as many as will listen. Good Luck!
