<p>I'm going to start applying to doctoral programs in nutrition this fall and am trying to consider programs with faculty amongst which I might find interest in ancestral-type diet interventions, or really anything related. Paleo sympathies and such. I have a few ideas so far, but since combing through faculty pages and Google scholar is a pain, I wondered if anyone on PH had some suggestions. I'm partially limited by places that offer the type of residency program my husband is seeking.</p>

<p>Find a venue in which you are interested in publishing your work (high-quality, focused on things you care about). Look at the papers from the last two cycles of the venue. If you see a style of work that you like, apply to that school. Finally, you're working with an advisor, not a school (mostly), and just because somebody's <em>good</em> or <em>smart</em> doesn't mean they would be a good Ph.D. advisor.</p>

<p>I know Chris Masterjohn is a PhD student in Nutrition at U. of Connecticut. He is a well-known Paleo advocate so it might be worth contacting him to see if the program has been a fit for him as well as asking about any others he would recommend.</p> <p>Also, Loren Cordain, one of the initial advocates of Paleo is at Colorado State and might be a good contact for you. </p> <p>Good luck!</p>
