There are natural remedies that can help you, but you won't find them in homeopathic solutions.

I'm personally trying to be a patient paleo-er (I did Whole 30 for 45 days and am now doing like 80/20 since) because there is a lot of things that need to turn around before I expect symptom relief. I imagine it just takes time.

Perhaps someone who has been following this lifestyle longer may have a better story. I think I'm just too new to tell.

My PCOS symptoms (irregular, horrible periods, facial hair, acne, disastrous PMS mood swings and cramps) have greatly improved with strict Paleo (no dairy except for Kerry Gold butter) and supplementing the following:

Vitamin D

Calcium D-Glucarate (this stuff is amazing and has really made a huge impact in my quality of life)

Magnesium

Dandelion Root

Vitamin B-100 complex

Zinc

I also try to eat seaweed daily since women with PCOS are generally iodine deficient. Also, I eat fish at least 5 times a week. If I did not do this, I'd probably take a fish oil supplement as well.

I used to have major depression, acne, hair loss, facial hair, super irregular and devastatingly heavy periods and now my skin is clear, no depression, facial hair is pretty minimal, head hair loss is much much less and now I have no PMS and my periods last 3 days (they're normal to heavy for those 3 days now, a huge huge huge improvement).

You don't have to be Whole 30 strict, but something more like 95/5 got rid of many of my symptoms in about 8 months. Got well enough to get knocked up at that point, and then it took a few years to get back on track, and then another year of 80/20 (which is the best I've been able to do in the presence of the chaos of small children), and all the cysts disappeared by my last ultrasound.

I am not completely symptom free, but so much better.

I've had a problem with ovarian cysts. The ruptured ones are super fun. I found strict paleo helped. I have to be especially strict about refined sugar, or I'm in pain. I literally eat no refined sugar. (This takes a lot of work. It's in everything. Oh crap, I lied - I think there is some in this deli meat...)

I also found that the relevant specialists (such as reproductive endocrine) were blind to other factors in my overall health. For example, thyroid disorders, food intolerances, and other common issues can contribute to the abdominal pain you might experience with PCOS. If all your doctors are busy looking in your vagina, they're not going to put together the bigger picture (if there is one).

So my advice would be to stick with strict paleo and also consult a little more widely. Don't let any one doctor tell you they're the expert on your health. They're the expert in their narrow subfield, and you are the expert on your health.

I had facial hair, depression, acne, heavy painful long lasting periods. I just got my hormonal blood test done last week and turns out i have pcos.

Being low carb paleo is great for controlling your insulin and makes you less insulin resistant which is great for reducing many pcos symptoms, but it might still not right your hormones. After two years paleo I have high testosterone of 54 (normal is <45) and my LH to FSH ratio of almost 3:1.

Even though I'm not insulin resistant, I feel best eating low carb. And I can tell you that supplementing with iodine rich foods for the last 4 months have GREATLY reduced my menstrual cramps.
