Bob 2012-09-05T20:24:57Z 2012-12-18T10:54:58Z
Im 26 years old, ex soldier and have been letting my body down ever since I left the Military. Came across Paleo diet on the web and said to my self I need to try this, but easy and not too strict. I started off today, don't feel hungry or anything but have diarrhea like a mad cow!

This is what I had today (only 2 meals)

breakfast/lunch: 100gr of sliced salmon 4 rice crisps A medium sized bowl of Parsley with a tiny onion, tea spoon of olive oil and half a lemon lunch/dinner: Two small Tuna cans with seaweed (two leafs-the ones for sushi) In between I had - Goji Berries, walnuts, almonds and raisins (maybe two handfuls max). Lots of water and a tea to finish the day.

Is the diarrhea because of the quick change in nutrition and my body is adjusting or anything im doing wrong? Thanks!
http://paleohacks.com/questions/147405/started-paleo-like-diet-today-now-have-nasty-diarrhea/147417#147417 Answer by Crowbar for Started Paleo-like diet today, now have nasty Diarrhea ! Usually, such things are the result of food contamination, which is way more common than most assume.

However, as I know what a nasty symptom it is, I suggest you try to keep you diet as simple as possible as you switch over, concentrating on meats, eggs, and greens. Stay away from the nuts and berries for now, and consider taking a probiotic. Wash your veggies very well, and practice good food handling practices.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/147405/started-paleo-like-diet-today-now-have-nasty-diarrhea/147430#147430 Answer by Spears for Started Paleo-like diet today, now have nasty Diarrhea ! I recommend Paul Jaminet's 'Perfect Health Diet' and just eat some big hearty meals, meat, safe starches, plenty of your favorite vegetables. Eat well, see how great you'll feel without the wheat, the omega-6 fats, the sugars and the legumes. 2,400 calories a day or more fella, enjoy.

For what's it's worth, I'm 1.85m and was 100 kg on the nose and am just over 80 now. I have four meals daily, lunch was a big half chicken including the skin, four medium white potatoes, salad, coleslaw, dressing, etc. Had plenty of dark chocolate today too.

Other than a short term detox "buzz" you won't feel permanently good until you're eating man-sized meals. I like what you wrote 'I want to feel strong, energetic, being able to wake up like a normal human without feeling heavy and tired, and lose some weight on the go.' I like it because that sounds like me and I like been able to say that at nearly 50 and after the health problems I had that are fading into long-term memory.

You'll need to do a bit of training to feel like your old self again. A few trips to the gym with the new diet will revolutionize your state of well being. Sorry about your knee and back but get on the various weights machines and do what you can do. Back extensions and curl-ups keep my old back in condition, stuff I got from Sarah Key's 'Back Sufferer's Bible' a book that transformed my life.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/147405/started-paleo-like-diet-today-now-have-nasty-diarrhea/147441#147441 Answer by Craig Almaguer for Started Paleo-like diet today, now have nasty Diarrhea ! About every 1 out of 5 times eating sushi (yes, that's my cheat with grain, get over it) I'll have a little bout with diarrhea. Could be the combo of berries too (???).

Paleo is pretty simple though: Veggies, Meat, nuts, seeds, some fruit, no grains, LIMIT any sugars you can (can be challenging). You'll be fine....and read, read, read. Good luck!
http://paleohacks.com/questions/147405/started-paleo-like-diet-today-now-have-nasty-diarrhea/167960#167960 Answer by Dr. Dru for Started Paleo-like diet today, now have nasty Diarrhea ! Carbs.

Nature wants you fat come winter, that's why wheat and honey etc grows a plenty in summer. Funny how that works out, eh? Everything has a purpose. Some foods are designed to be irresistable to make you fat, because 'Winters Coming'.

The 'White Devils Of Weight Gain' = Sugar, Flour, and Salt.

Give your body time to adjust, and remember, this is the Paleo DIET. Not eating for life. That may be scandalous to say round these parts but the science and data supports it. Your body needs carbs for the fiber, end of story. Just eat the good slow ones, with the fiber to bind your stools together, and sparingly.

After you lose some weight try to stay true to the '3 Parts Plate' philosophy of eating as advocated by Harvard Medical and the entire continent of Europe.

1/2 Plants

1/4 Slow carbs (All bran, oatmeal, whole wheat bread, brown rice, quinoa, sweet potatoes, etc)

1/4 Lean proteins (Chicken, fish, lean beef)
