what about a dietary consultant? - PaleoHacks.com most recent 30 from http://paleohacks.com 2013-05-19T08:28:23Z http://paleohacks.com/feeds/question/148173 http://www.creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/2.5/rdf http://paleohacks.com/questions/148173/what-about-a-dietary-consultant what about a dietary consultant? aseafish 2012-09-09T16:56:42Z 2012-09-09T20:02:53Z
After a few years of doctors, tests, careful Paleo food choices and an almost squeaky clean diet, I'm still struggling with many of the symptoms I'd think Paleo would diminish. For me mostly, it's allergies, painful intestinal issues, low energy levels, difficulty sleeping. As I look at even more restrictions, I wonder when and where it will end. I've almost finished a 90 day autoimmune protocol and am wondering now about FODMAPS.

My question: Would I be wise to hire a personal health consultant, Paleo, of course? Is there likely to be much advantage over the trial and error, hit and miss of my last few years? I read blogs and FB pages of many who do this sort of consultation, but I'm just not sure. If this seems a good step, how would I begin to narrow down the field? What does one look for?

Thanks for your suggestions.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/148173/what-about-a-dietary-consultant/148174#148174 Answer by CD for what about a dietary consultant? Try http://www.sondrarose.com/ (note, I am not affiliated nor have I ever used sondarose. But she's a moderator here, and gives very good, sound advice in here answers.)
http://paleohacks.com/questions/148173/what-about-a-dietary-consultant/148175#148175 Answer by Renee for what about a dietary consultant? Renee 2012-09-09T17:04:03Z 2012-09-09T17:04:03Z
I am thinking about doing the same for my IBS. I think no harm in trying if you can afford it. Two peeps I'm considering are Chris Kresser and Amy Kubal.

By the way, if your intestinal pain seems to be gas-related, then yes I would strongly encourage cutting out or drastically reducing FODMAPs.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/148173/what-about-a-dietary-consultant/148178#148178 Answer by Faith for what about a dietary consultant? Faith 2012-09-09T17:20:22Z 2012-09-09T17:20:22Z
It sounds like you may have a parasite/bacterial/fungal infection in your gut. I am sure a good consultant could help you out. I would recommend Chris Kesser also. In the meantime, you might want to try some oregano oil. Also, allergies are b/c of weak adrenals which goes hand in hand with sleep issues & digestion.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/148173/what-about-a-dietary-consultant/148208#148208 Answer by palaz for what about a dietary consultant? palaz 2012-09-09T20:02:53Z 2012-09-09T20:02:53Z
A consultant is mostly a good choise. Just talking to another person who posses some expertise and getting some new ideas would be helpful.
