However, I was busy with other things in my life so I never managed to weigh myself. It turns out I lost about 15 pounds, which kind of scared me since I was already borderline underweight.</p> <p>So I bought a digital scale and have been weighing and calculating my food the past few days. That serving of salmon that I thought was 400 calories [turns out it's more like 150]. All that asparagus I ate? Turns out that was about 30 calories. The "high calorie" avocado I was eating every morning [only 200 calories????]</p> <p>I know nuts are very high calorie and I could eat those, but I've read on here and other places to be wary of their phytic acid. I got some walnuts because I read they had less phytic acid, but I'm still wary.</p> <p>I don't know, does anyone else have this problem? As per the suggestion above, slather butter on all of your vegetables, white fish, eggs and so on. Eat baked potatoes slathered with the same. Coconut oil apparently encourages weight loss, but cooking in gobs of that wouldn't go amiss either. Drink every drop of fat that slithers off your meat or oily fish. If you can find something tasty to blend in with coconut milk (that is not a fruit), you could get tons of calories that way. People were concerned for my health over how skinny I was. </p> <p>In my experience gorging on fat didn't help me gain weight at all, but it does help get your calorie level up. You have to add some starchy carbs...sweet potatoes, acorn squash, pumpkin,etc to gain weight in my opinion, and lift weights. As long as your insulin levels are normal, the addition of more starchy carbs should be just fine. You just have to tinker a bit to see what works for you. </p> <p>Good luck.</p>
