I have a lot of symptoms...cold hands, cold nose, dandruff, hate getting out of bed, nervousness, dry skin, low energy, swingy moods, had very bad muscle soreness last winter..

I seem to be fine during the summer but during the cooler/dryier months my symptoms go crazy.

And i've always had dry eyes...ever since I was in elementary school I can remember being miserable trying to keep my eyes open in school. I was never cold as a child...these symptoms arrived in the past year or so. But my eyes have always been on fire. Especially when the outdoor humidity goes down. I usually just blame my dry eyes on allergies but i've never been diagnosed.

Could I have had a bad thyroid from a very young age?

Diet (VLC last winter..very high energy & a lot of weight loss. Hit a wall and symptoms returned worse than ever.)
Now I eat higer carbs...fruit in moderation, chicken, eggs, fish, bacon, lots of veggies (blamed my VLC crash initially on oxalic acid), olive oil, coconut oil, and potatoes.

Thanks!

I know the obsious answer is..."go to a doctor." But I just want to see how convincing my case is. And i'm not living at home rigth now so i wouldnt be able to see my doctor till December anyway.

As for age, for genetic pre-disposition age doesn't really matter. Hypothyroidism rate is higher after 50, but you can definitely have it at earlier ages

If you decide to see a doctor, go to a very good, recommended naturopath, they are the best.

But I had a history of hyperthyroid, with anti-thyroid treatment in my youth, as well as a family history of the disorder. But in short, yes, it can strike at any age, and since it's so easy to diagnose via simple lab tests, the real answer is that you must get tested to know for sure. If you have insurance, it will likely be covered. If not, you should still find a way. After all, something is wrong, and you will want to eliminate obvious possible causes before looking deeper at more difficult to diagnose causes.
