Does anyone use olive oil for their skin or other uses?

I am wondering if anyone has had experience using olive oil on their skin? Does it clog your pores? Has anyone tried shaving with it? I am trying to get rid of as many chemical products as possible, are there uses anyone would suggest? I want to live an all around cleaner lifestyle any suggestions for olive oil uses?

i have sensitive skin and i use it to take off any makeup or sunscreen. it is awesome, does not clog! sometimes i take a shot of it for calories because i am thin.

I haven't tried olive oil, but coconut oil on your skin is awesome. I've used it to moisturize my face and have never broken out from it.

I´m using olive oil on a daily basis on my skin but it is in soap form. It takes a while to get accustomed to soap but after a few weeks my skin seems to get not so dry anymore. I´m mostly using Aleppo soap from Syria, French Soap or real natural soap. You may get some funny jokes in the locker room but i cant think of any other negative side effects.

For skin care i read Argan Oil is one of the best oils available.

My doctor recommends regular olive oil to soften ear wax. It is 9.8% omega-6 and I have stuck in my mind to limit overall PUFA to around 4% from Perfect Health Diet recommendations. Just not sure of a regular habit in the small area of the ear getting a 2x dose of PUFA ... maybe weekly or monthly would be okay ...

No. I only apply high-Linoleic-Acid/low-Oleic-acid oils to my skin.

I use olive oil as my primary moisturizer -- it's fantastic, and my skin has never been so clear with the combo of this and eating well.

I also use it as a makeup remover and cleanser. (google oil cleansing method)

When my mom was bedridden and incontinent after a massive stroke, I tried everything in the health food store to try to help her ultra sensitive skin heal from rashes, bed sores, etc. her Ugandan caregiver insisted on only using pure olive oil on her, and it was amazing how quickly her skin cleared up. Pressure sores, heat rash, pimples-- they all went away! Made me a believer! Also great for hair, and if you have kids in school, olive oil is an effective way to treat headlice without putting poison on their heads.

I've used coconut oil on occasion. Although I'm a guy and try not to be too metro, my hair is thick so I apply some to keep it from drying out.

my grandma has been using olive oil on her skin for as long as i've known her and she looks amazing. she's 78 and people usually mistaken her for my mother (i'm 22). i started using it, too, years ago, but have changed to coconut oil because it smells better. both work great though.

My receptionist told me she and her sister used it as tanning oil when they were young, and it did a good job of giving them a heck of a tan.

Ancient Romans used to massage olive oil on their skin... well the rich ones did. They even had a special bone that was split lengthwise to use to scrape off the extra.

Kiss my face makes a pure olive oil bar (rated by EWG as "0"). I use it on my body and face...and my skin is very dry. It is only olive oil and is made in Greece.

I use olive oil and sugar as a hand scrub. About a tablespoon of each, poured directly into my hands, rub, and rinse. Great for the dry patches :)

I tried using olive oil for my skin, and for me it was a disaster. Despite being thoroughly greased, my skin was rough and my face broke out a lot. I've had great results using it on my hair though.

I've used coconut oil for my skin for quite a while now, and it works great. Makes it really soft, removes makeup, keeps my skin clearer than anything else.

I have used a mixture of olive oil with a slight amount of castor oil for several months. I use the mixture on a dry face, rub in then take hot wash cloth (as hot as I can stand) and take the oil off. My skin is pretty clear and well moisturized. You use more castor oil if you tend to have oily skin.

My wife is Greek-American and we live in a mostly Greek town in Florida. They use olive oil on everything and generally have really awesome skin, hair, etc. There is a brand that we use called "Olivia" and they make all kinds of skin care products.

I'm a huge fan of hand and foot care via Olive Oil. It's kind of the opposite theory from what you always here about having hard hands and feet with callouses that help you lift stuff or hang onto stuff. I'm really referring to all the tears and rips you can get in CrossFit, and all the blisters you can get from hiking long distance, my two biggest hobbies. I use a pumice stone almost every day in the shower to get rid of dead skin, then before bed I massage my hands and feet with an olive oil product. The result is the skin on my hands and feet is much more supple and flexible. So, if I'm doing a workout that is heavy on kipping pull-ups, it's sort of a "bend but doesn't break" kind of theory. I use chalk and I don't notice any loss of grip from having "soft" hands.

My wife does a total body thing with their spray bottle and she has really nice skin, no blemishes or clogging, etc.

I started using olive oil as a "toothpaste" as recommended by Natasha Campbell-McBride of the GAPS diet. You can also use coconut oil mixed with baking soda. It took some getting used to, but it works and is definitely cleaner than any commercial toothpaste.
