Right, I just bought turkey liver, heart and beef shoulder, from the deli section plus a frozen fillet of salmon from the freezer. Now learning about the horrors of meat here in Israel.

I no longer want to eat it, if I have to I will but I want better options, I barely afford what I buy now. I eat lots of eggs ranging from 5 to 10 eggs a day to keep costs down. I also buy and consume Starkest tuna as a staple of my diet, some sardines in olive oil as well.

I hear that the chicken and turkey quality is horrendous, and when sold in the deli the cuts make me want to puke.
Organic chicken is 66 shekels a kilo that's like 15USD a kilo depending on the cut, Supermarket chicken is sold at a laughable 10-30 shekels a kilo 2.5-7USD a kilo. Those pricing I cannot afford.
Beef is injected with water and sold, often frozen then thawed posing as fresh cuts at the deli. Cost of beef is around 60 shekels about 15$ a kilo
Organic beef does not exist here in Israel
Fish are fresh farmed or frozen fed tons of antibiotics
Eggs aren't the greatest but the cheapest of the bunch of junk I see.
Canned salmon is rare, only have found in Jerusalem
Canned sardines, canned tuna probably have BPA in the cans.

What do I do???

If I cannot locate better sources what would be my best choice?

Frozen fish? Canned?
Beef?
More Eggs?
The Chicken/Turkey?

The meat quality here is horrible. How does a Paleo guy get his Protein?

When I get my own Paleo farm, I am in no way selling that junk. Chicken, duck, quail, goat, lamb, cow, etc will all be naturally raised and slaughtered properly!

I am in touch with a scientist involved in tracking health of beef and poultry in israel and in fact a lot of what you just wrote is plain not true

starkist tuna works out at about 50 shekels a kilo BUT if you go to the wonderful markets, you will get fresh salmon or fresh tuna at 50 to 70 shekels a kilo, NOT the frozen stuff

10 eggs a day is waaay out of order

contact me and i'll try to help you.

Just so you that haaretz article (if im thinking of the same one) wasn't that accurate, and was written by a vegan so might be a bit biased too. Any way if u buy beef from Adoom - Adoom (red-red) they import cows from Australia which are grass-fed and grain finished here.

This is an article in hebrew (maybe google translate?) http://www.paleostyle.co.il/?p=1384
