Florastor is a good one for people with diarrhea. But the main ingredients in Florastor is for people with diarrhea compared to constipation. Florastor's main ingredient is Saccharomyes & Boulardi lyo. Aren't there other probiotics with other ingredients that are best for constipation. I hear there is, but don't know any brands and what the other beneficial ingredients are. Thank you
http://paleohacks.com/questions/151371/probiotics-constipation/151372#151372 Answer by CD for PROBIOTICS & CONSTIPATION CD 2012-09-22T23:44:38Z 2012-09-23T01:33:12Z
Just focus on a good quality probiotic. If you have gut issues you want to get your gut flora healthy. Just make sure that intestine bacteria like acidophilus is in it.

Although, the studies are not clear as to whether probiotics can actually help with constipation.

If you are really bad, a stool softener might help, although I wouldn't go that route unless it's been a few days.

The best thing to do for constipation is increase fluid intake, increase fat intake, reduce systematic inflammation.

Good luck!
http://paleohacks.com/questions/151371/probiotics-constipation/151373#151373 Answer by KA24 for PROBIOTICS & CONSTIPATION KA24 2012-09-22T23:47:41Z 2012-09-22T23:47:41Z
Although it's not the most potent for getting quality probiotics, I've found that drinking a low-sugar, non-sugar Kombucha (Kevita for instance) and eating sauerkraut does the trick. Both provide a lot of fluids along with the probiotics.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/151371/probiotics-constipation/151376#151376 Answer by Adam for PROBIOTICS & CONSTIPATION Adam 2012-09-23T00:01:51Z 2012-09-23T00:01:51Z
http://www.mytonix.com/Coconut_Water_Kefir.html

coconut water keifer is the best

http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=GU-1098

garden of life probiotic products are all great

Take a full serving or 2 of your chosen product an hour before bed. Eat more and more of it till stuff is running smooth.

24 hr yogurt isn't a bad idea either.

Screw the probiotic pills. They are garbage. Eat fermented foods for real improvement.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/151371/probiotics-constipation/151388#151388 Answer by BoneBrothFast for PROBIOTICS & CONSTIPATION BoneBrothFast 2012-09-23T01:10:54Z 2012-09-23T01:10:54Z
S. Boulardii is for when you have diarrhea, so if you have constipation, I would definitely recommend staying away from S. Boulardii.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/151371/probiotics-constipation/151396#151396 Answer by invisible ink for PROBIOTICS & CONSTIPATION invisible ink 2012-09-23T02:05:36Z 2012-09-23T02:05:36Z
If you're hypothyroid you may find that the probiotics via fermented veggies actually cause you constipation rather than relieve it as I find to be the unfortunate case. I believe it's from the fact that the goitrogen effects from cruciferous raw vegetables (i.e., cabbage) is actually enhanced when fermented rather than diminished. YMMV.

My go-to constipation reliever is magnesium.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/151371/probiotics-constipation/151402#151402 Answer by VB for PROBIOTICS & CONSTIPATION VB 2012-09-23T03:53:35Z 2012-09-23T03:53:35Z
Just wanted to add something - sometimes probiotics (if they are too strong) can cause constipation. I did not know it before, it is a symptom of a die-off reaction.

I have not tried water kefir yet (it is next on my list) but raw beets always help me.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/151371/probiotics-constipation/151788#151788 Answer by digestable for PROBIOTICS & CONSTIPATION digestable 2012-09-25T11:43:49Z 2012-09-25T11:43:49Z
Symprove is a great probiotic for constipation.

It's non-dairy, so the bacateria don't get killed off in the stomach acids because it doesn't trigger digestion. It's also not-freeze-dried so the bacteria get to work straight away, not half-way through your gut.

You can get it from symprove.com and nutricentre.com
http://paleohacks.com/questions/151371/probiotics-constipation/154942#154942 Answer by Michael Mathews for PROBIOTICS & CONSTIPATION Michael Mathews 2012-10-11T08:39:57Z 2012-10-11T08:39:57Z
Hi there! Great question! I hope this might help. I tried this PHP maxam product. It helps to replenish and restore proper immune and gut bacterial functionality beyond the standard probiotic formula.
