<p>I like to read the labels on shitty, SAD food.</p> <p>Today I found a BBQ sauce with wheat as the first ingredient. I also found some "instant oats" with soy protein. </p> <p>I saw a woman and her son in the supermarket and her son was carrying salad dressing and the woman told her son "get the low-fat one" and I almost laughed out loud, but then I felt bad because I realized they would become sick any day now.</p>

<p>I used to, but what's the point? It's a waste of time and a disappointment, there's almost never any such products that would pass the ingredient list test. Maybe a CAFO jerky would almost pass, but then it would have some sort of sweetener (usually multiple ones) or "natural flavor" added.</p> <p>I'd rather stick with making things from scratch. It's fun most of the time making something yourself. Sometimes, if I'm feeling overwhelmed time wise, it can be a bother, but those moments it's easy enough to throw a burger patty or a steak on the grill and pair it with some mixed greens, and not worry about a more elaborate dish.</p> <p>There's plenty to had had if you stick to just the produce aisles, and get your grassfed meats over the interwebs, plus it makes your trip to the supermarket a lot quicker.</p>

<p>I do, but its half funny, half tragic like most of the aspects of modern society. I am still early paleo, and its eye opening.</p> <p>Still, you gotta like the half funny, otherwise youd spend all your time in the half sad. Too many people crowding that space already.</p> <p>It has not yet ceased to amase me, how food like, sad food appears until you read that absurd label. I have never seen a witches potion or brew recipe with more ingredients than your average sad food. </p> <p>I watch the news sometimes for similar reasons and also dont watch it most of the time, for the same reason. </p> <p>I am not interested in whatever the hell people are obsessing over, or what ridiculous solutions are being proposed to problems that shouldnt exist anyway. </p> <p>I just want to heartlessly giggle about whatever nonsense people are passing for reason and common sense, and then switch the channel before it starts to get me angry or sad.</p> <p>Modern life....its a balancing act. </p>

<p>I don't look at random labels but when I do want to get something and look at the label I get so mad at all the junk they put in everything. Just last week I drove an hour away to an orchard to get a half gallon of unfiltered apple cider and a bag of apples. Guess what the ingredients were on the cider...in this order (water, sugar, unfilterd cider from concentrate...I forget the rest but they were chemicals). All I wanted was some fresh squeezed unadulterated apple cider! </p>

<p>Not so much anymore, unless I <em>have</em> to get something packaged, which is rare. I know it's hard not to judge people about what they buy in the store, but you never know if someone was on the verge of death and lost 400 lbs by eating low fat cookies. Everyone has a story. </p> <p>I will admit I love looking in people's carts. Particularly in Costco. When I was behind the family who bought about 40 lbs of pork shoulder and 5 gallons of vodka, I really wanted to go home with them. They seemed fun.</p>

<p>Not at the store but I do at home. My wife follows a typical SAD diet and I always read the backs of the boxes as she is cooking something. She finds this VERY annoying. I find it amusing. What really kills me is the fact there is high fructose corn syrup and/or hydrogenated oil in EVERYTHING it seems. I do my best to get away from it but even one of the products I buy every week has high fructose corn syrup in it (Eckrich Smoked Sausage).</p>
