Its almost as if i punish myself for cheating and i know i will wake up the next day and feel awful and depressed. So my solution is always to go the gym and do an hour or so of hard core cardio to try and burn off the extra calories, afriad they will immediatley turn to fat....does this make any sense? im only a few months into the paleo eating and i know that calorie in calorie out does not really work the way ive been told for years but...old habits are hard to break. any suggestions?
http://paleohacks.com/questions/154199/can-you-exercise-off-a-binge/154202#154202 Answer by booyainyoface for can you exercise off a binge? booyainyoface 2012-10-07T23:13:24Z 2012-10-07T23:13:24Z
as a prior binge-exerciser... i would suggest figuring out your trigger for binging (i increased fat and that helped exponentially, also i lowered my carbs (100g a day or less) and stay away from fruit.) by exercising after binging you are kinda introducing a new "obsessive" behavior to compensate for your first obsessive behavior... i would suggest exercising as normal following a binge, but trying to make up for it is going to lead to another obsessive disorder. also what helped me at first was exercising around the time when i was most likely to binge.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/154199/can-you-exercise-off-a-binge/154205#154205 Answer by Colin for can you exercise off a binge? In the mean time work on getting as much nutrients into your diet as you can, and maybe up the animal fats a bit they can lessen the cravings. Also I make sure I keep some broth handy and I'll just heat that up if I get cravings most, okay some of the time that works too.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/154199/can-you-exercise-off-a-binge/154206#154206 Answer by Kristin for can you exercise off a binge? I don't recommend you doing this on a regular basis, but it sure takes away the guilt, somewhat.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/154199/can-you-exercise-off-a-binge/154215#154215 Answer by joanna for can you exercise off a binge? joanna 2012-10-08T00:46:00Z 2012-10-08T00:46:00Z
i used to be a chronic binger/exerciser. i'd estimate the calories that i ate and then go on the elliptical while watching the calorie counter until everything i ate was exercised off. it's a sick cycle and i addressed it through therapy. my therapist also gave me a book called "making peace with food." it is an amazing book with a lot of writing exercises. it helped me a lot- probably saved my life.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/154199/can-you-exercise-off-a-binge/154246#154246 Answer by Bread-Eating Beelzebub for can you exercise off a binge? Binge eating isn't just some bad random thing that happens to anyone, it's a potentially serious disorder that should be treated with care. When treated properly, you will become much more resilient. I recommend cognitive behavioral therapy.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/154199/can-you-exercise-off-a-binge/154253#154253 Answer by dazd6 for can you exercise off a binge? dazd6 2012-10-08T06:15:29Z 2012-10-08T06:15:29Z
Practice prevention not temporary fixes. Stop giving into instant gratification. Think twice about the junk that you know is going to harm your body. Good luck :)
